Serpentine was born to Aventurine and Turquoise, dragons of Clan Snastle.
From a young age it was clear that some hidden talent lay within the tiny hatchling, that she was one of the four blessed children that would be born to the clan as foretold years ago. The sisters Celestine and Spessartine were encouraged to spend time with her, and the two quickly accepted her as one of their own.

Serpentine's talents are connected with the Spring season, growing in power around the vernal equinox and waning around the autumnal. When in full bloom, as it was when she was newly hatched, she provides a source of great delight to the other hatchlings. Woodland creatures flock to her, and flowers bloom at her passing. She seems to imbue the land around her with new life, and while all of the sisters possess this talent, perhaps due to her affiliation with the season of rebirth, Serpentine is the only one who does so effortlessly.

As a result, she loves to spend her time in the gardens, or planting little window boxes all about the castle. Moldavite, the clan's gardener, is herself unable to coax plants to grow in some of the places Serpentine so effortlessly places them, and is grateful for her help, especially with the food garden.

As an adult, Serpentine met a young newcomer to the clan, the eccentric Rhodonite, and the two quickly struck up a friendship. Their closeness increased steadily, and despite the fact that their relationship is more like a pair of cuddly and goofy best friends than actual lovers, with no inclinations of a sexual nature on either side, it only seemed fitting to move in together. The two live happily together in their own little cavern which between them, is positively thrumming with magical energy, enough to prompt the formation of eggs every now and again, much to the bemusement of the asexual couple.
Such hatchlings, conceived of nothing but the intense magical energies of their parents, invariably wind up talented in the ways of magic.
