The Broken Warrior



Bitter. Blood. The tang of copper in her mouth. Scarstorm has never hated anything as much as she hates the taste of defeat on her tongue.

Scar does not take rejection lightly. From the time she was hatched, she has been training to be a warrior. But every time she fails, every time the sword slips from her hand or she loses to an opponent, she flies into a rage and blindly attacks those around her. This makes it difficult for other people to trust her or even put in the time and effort to try and train her. Her behavior is a shield of sorts, but it pushes away those who want to help her most.

When she was a hatchling, Scarstorm wasn’t quite such a bitter dragon. She had friends and played like any other youth. But her parents expected her to become a warrior. They had her training day and night. When she made a mistake, or forgot something, she was cruelly punished. Their love was entirely conditional.

This left the young Coatl feeling isolated and betrayed. She soon learned to build a barrier— locking her emotions within. Eventually, all she knew how to feel was rage. Nothing else came in or out.

These days, she fights for her clan. She truly is an excellent warrior, but she’s not very good at anything else to do with social interactions. her parents made sure of that.
