Ambition. Raw, untamed, and impossible to control. Anyone who gives into it will surely fall. That’s exactly what happened to Blazemouth. He let his pride get the best of him, and in the end he fell far from grace.
Blaze was once the apprentice to a great sorcerer, Copernicus. The ancient Nocturne sought to teach him everything he learned over the years. But he never intended to let Blazemouth take his place as leader of the Arcane Council, and the Wildclaw soon grew bitter. Why shouldn’t he be given a chance? He was just as powerful as Copernicus. He had even more potential than the washed up old dragon! With jealousy in his heart, Blazemouth hatched a plan. As the mage’s apprentice, he was next in line to become leader of the guild. He had grown close to Copernicus in recent months, and knew his habits. He knew that the Nocturne took his tea at the same time every day while reading through his papers and schedule. So, he decided to do something reckless. In the dead of night, he entered the forest to search for poisonous flowers. He carefully harvested a foxglove plant and took it back to his home. He dried the leaves out and crushed them into a powder. Then, before Copernicus took his tea, he put the poisonous powder in it. His plan was almost complete when Cinderella caught him in the act. She was delivering spell supplies to the head of the mages’ guild, and quickly ran to tell Copernicus what had happened— saving his life in the process. Blazemouth was banished from the guild, never to be spoken to by the other mages again. Now he lives on the fringes of the clan’s territory, becoming more and more bitter with each passing day. The resentment towards his former teacher grows in his heart— cold and cruel like a lump of coal.
