Eternity is certainly an odd little fellow. He appeared in front of our entrance on the Winter Solstice, in a hanging bat position. The weird thing is... there was nothing to hang on. He was hovering upside-down, with his wings tucked, latched onto something that didn't exist. Sleeping.

Then his bright blue eyes opened, he decided to give Kali; who met him at the entrance; a staring contest. Kali's left smaller eye blinked after a full three minutes, and just like that, the hatchling won.

Kali ushered him inside, confused and relaxed at the same time. He nodded, still hanging from nothing, then jumped down and crawled inside, using his wings as arms.

Once in the main chamber, the little Nocturne spoke.

"My name Eternity. Time is eternal. I will not grow. Home. Presents."

He summoned a small wisp of blue smoke, and when it dissipated, there was a small box on the ground. Inside was a Nocturne Egg.

"I sense time. Something will happen. Keep this until then. I go sleep now."

With that, he flew straight up to the top of the gigantic cavern, and latched onto a small ledge with his tail. From the ground, all you could see was his bright wings, little more than another glowing mushroom among the thousands lighting the room.

Months later, a new area was discovered, hidden well for ages. An ancient ruin, filled to the brim with ghosts, ghouls, and demons. For some reason, Eternity begged to go. Kali decided she'd let him do as he wished- for all she knew, the tiny Nocturne was a hardened warrior, centuries old. However, she did go with him, just in case Eternity ran off and hid.

The journey to the ruins was surprisingly quick and silent, no one said a word the whole way. Eternity landed on a broken pedestal. Kali followed, settling down beside the raised stone.

"I hear Friend. I go see Friend. Friend!"

Eternity spread his wings and flew off into the caverns. Kali, understandably confused, dashed after him. Low growls filled the air as the two delved deeper into the dark ruin.

As they moved, Kali caught glimpses of the walls. Paintings, old and faded, depicted ancient dragons and newly-built temples dedicated to the dragon deities. They danced around multi-colored fires, green, blue, and orange, celebrating their lives. Further in, the paintings were less faded, a bit more recent... The dragons still danced, but they were no longer living. They were bone and mist, missing limbs, sinister shapes who laughed as if nothing had happened. Kali turned her head away after that, focusing on catching up to the Nocturne.

Eventually, the little Nocturne stopped in front of a gigantic cave. He called out for his "Friend."

The ground shook, and a deep, long growl nearly deafened Kali's ears. She leaped right over the Nocturne, trying to shield him from whatever was waiting in the cave. She let out a hiss of her own, head lowered and wings lifted high. Eternity climbed up her arm and settled on her furry wolf-caped shoulders, calling once more.

Blue smoke burst forth from the opening, shrouding the two dragons' view. The floor shook, something crawling forward on heavy legs.

When the fog cleared, the first thing Kali saw was a huge, tattered, rotten wing, held together with nothing but bones and leathery membrane. Then, as she glanced to the right of that wing, she saw a pair of skeletal arms, ending in hands with wicked claws. She slowly looked up.

A demon creature, larger than an Imperial and almost as frightening as an Emperor, stood over them. Aqua mist streamed from its mouth, and it had huge fangs seemingly bared in an eternal grin. Dark cloth was hung over its head and shoulders, possibly in an attempt to make it even more frightening than it already was.

Though she would never admit it, Kali was shivering- She'd blame it on the cold air. Eternity hadn't moved, and was staring at the creature's face with an expression that showed happiness and joy more than fear and fright.

The demon spoke, a deceivingly ordinary voice that filled their minds, sounding both old and young at once. It was calm and feminine.

{Welcome home, my dear eternal light. Welcome home.}

The room was silent for a few minutes. Kali sat in the corner, eyeing the skeletal beast closely, ready to move if the need arose. She felt other stares in the room, watching the whole scene; she felt unnerved, but held her ground.

"I have new home now, Friend. New home with Mirror and Fae and many more friends. But you are my Friend. It is not home without you, Friend."

{I see... Well, I suppose these old bones could follow you, so long as it's not too far. Lead the way, Friend of the Ancients.}

Kali shuddered. Ancient friends? Homes? Eternal lights? This was all somewhat confusing to her, but Eternity had already taken off again, and the Spirit floated after him, covering Kali in smoke as it drifted over.

"Well, this will be a long story," she whispered to herself, as she followed the glowing fog back through the broken ruins.
