Biography
Rhodonite
Experimental Mage
Experimental Mage
|
Rhodonite was born and raised in The Observatory. He always had a fascination for Arcane magic, and applied himself fully to its study. However, his experimentations have caused more than a little trouble. He was originally born a Fae, and conducted his experiments calmly and with strict adherence to protocol. One day, a mistake led to a powerful spell blowing up in his face, and from then on, others described him as eccentric. He became more erratic in his movements. He twitched, and began to display signs of emotion not common to his breed. His instability led to increasingly frequent mistakes in his work. A misfired spell between the eyes rendered him colour-blind. Tinkering with an old, unknown scroll changed his form to that of a Snapper, leading to one particularly interesting day when he awoke as a huge Snapper in a Fae-sized laboratory, countless flasks and jars shattered between himself and the walls, the contents mixing as they dripped off his body. After then, his instability only grew. Loving the feeling of different textures on his skin, he took to wearing a bizarre array of clothing and accessories, often in eye-searing combinations. However, the changes to Rhodonite’s body and particularly his mind haven’t come without their benefits. He has come to be known as somewhat of a mad genius, his eccentricity leads to bizarre and incredible ideas. Some of these fail spectacularly, but others have led to some incredible discoveries. Unfortunately, even genuine discoveries are often lost amidst the clutter of his study, or discredited, as his presentations often take a turn, an explanation of a sound magical concept falling apart when he runs off on a tangent about some other topic such as a malevolent plot by bees or a conspiracy about the origin of Shadowbinder’s ooze. Rhodonite came to the clan after a ‘little, small, very minor tiny incident” as he calls it. After some digging, they found that he had blasted a huge hole in The Observatory, and was forced out of Arcane lands by the frustration of his co-workers, fed up at last with his shenanigans. He’s been given a room with heavily reinforced walls, on the edge of the shell, where too large an explosion can't harm the Snastle or the other clan members. Very occasionally a boom with startle them all, but so far the walls have held. |
