Glesig was the product of two ambitious dragons as a means to overthrow their clan's current leader. She was trained from birth to be a heartless killer, to be resourceful, ruthless, and never, ever get caught. Unfortunately for her parents' ambitions, the girl did not turn out as they had hoped. Scarred from the training she endured—physically and mentally—Glesig became passive, fearful, and abhorred violence in any capacity. Fearing for her life, the young dragon eventually fled her old clan and set out across Sornieth; perhaps, somewhere out there, she would find a more accepting home. To the northwest she flew, afraid and alone, stopping only when she could no longer keep herself in the sky. The darkness of the Tangled Woods was nothing like her home, and she wanted nothing more than to escape the terrifying darkness back into a world of sunlight. When she finally pushed out of the Woods into Dragonhome, she almost cried with relief. She kept flying and flying with no destination in mind until she collapsed in the plains. Sunstone and Tanzanite found the exhausted Imperial and carried her back to the Shatterstone Clan. Sibyla, the clan's innkeeper, nursed Glesig back to health and cared for her like her own daughter for the duration of her stay with the clan. Glesig had never known unconditional love such as this, and though she could not bring herself to respond in kind out of fear, it left a mark on her that she carried with her when she finally moved on. Glesig was flying over the Tangled Wood airspace when something hit her. A stray energy bolt had come out of nowhere and struck her wing, and down, down she fell. She landed underneath trees so thick that they blocked out the sunlight. Immediately feeling under threat, she quietly slunk through the thorny thistles and underbrush. Something nipped at her legs and face. It didn't take long to realize she had waltzed into a garden of Janustraps. Another Janustrap rose up in front of her... but it wasn't a plant; rather, it was a dragon disguised as the plant. He growled and grumbled before deciding she wasn't a threat. The Spiral flitted away into a nearby structure, and soon Glesig was invited inside. It was busy in the building, being a newspaper manufacturer called the Cloakscreen Company, but all the dragons who worked there were friendly enough. Glesig was especially blown away by the kindness of Charisma, the healer, who helped tend the Imperial's wounds and advised that she rest up for a while. Once Glesig had healed properly, she left, feeling like she wouldn't be afraid of the shadows. After all, she had found new friends in the darkness. (continue the adventure down here) |
