Some time ago, Tak was hatched into the Boneshard clan. Upon hatching, she was very sickly. Her thick hide was pocked with holes and bleeding sores. When her parents disappeared into the nothing, Tak was the last dragon left of her family. Despite the sores oozing from her body, she managed to keep up with the clan as they moved around the Plaguebringer's realm. Her sheer tenacity drove Ferrovax to leave with her in his pouches to the EchoFlower clan where she would be safe and taken care of.

Chives and Basil took the ridgeback in, tending to her curious ailments and working tirelessly to bring her back to peak health. Despite their best efforts, the marks of her illness as a hatchling remain with her to this day, the speckling of scars across her hide a reminder of her true plague heritage. She carries the marks proudly, even after her transformation from ridgeback to pearlcatcher. The change was brought on after her sickness began rotting away her spines, causing her pain and discomfort at all times. Now, she is mostly healed but still has to tend carefully to her scales.

When the necromancer Adalyn came to the Troupe, he and Tak were instantly drawn to each other. They worked tirelessly to draw out the power Adalyn had been struck with, losing much in the process but gaining so much more. Tak's scales had survived the plague wastes and they would survive this. She and the spiral became inseparable and despite the horrors they came across in the hunt they became a devoted pair. Tak has new scars from their learning curve but there has been so much more gained. She assists him in his readings and helps set up any spells he may need. Since Tak has more magical prowess, she is undeniably important to his new trade.

Nothing much sticks to Tak's claws in terms of hoarding. Her general theory is that everything she needs she can carry, so she doesn't often have much to her name. Not to mention she retains her thieving ridgeback ways and will take what she needs from others without a second thought. In her own way, she helps out the Troupe. Working in the sideshow tents, she shows off the scars across her body and proudly makes up stories about how she got them. Her red eyes are a draw for dragons who know about the lengths plague dragons go through to survive.
