The Forager Gathers for the SnaffleWyrm Clan
Clutching my pearl tight to my chest, I bent low and examined the trodden ground before me. The trail led off into the high tangle of ferns, although I knew that my prey could not have moved far off - the singing streams of the Gladeveins lay just beyond, and if it had gone beyond the Gladeveins, then I had lost. Enemy territory was on the other side of the streams, and although I prided myself on being stealthy and quick-footed, I was not keen on picking a fight. I sat back on my haunches to decide my next move. Of course, the Clan would not starve without my catch. I simply wanted to bring home a treat, and the tusks from the Viridian Labyrinth boars would be a prize. Plus, Mawrse could probably use ground up boar hooves for some sort of spell or one of her specialty brews. My shoulders fell at the thought of failure. I was determined to at least try. I tucked my pearl under my chin and pawed my way through the ferns carefully, pausing to see if anything else had the same idea. But no - I was alone. After clearing the ferns and ensuring that my prey was gone, I called it a day. Pausing by the Gladeveins to have a drink, I turned to my pearl and spat on it a little too harshly. I knew it was silly of me to take out my disappointment on my pearl, though, so I quickly leaned forward and rubbed the spit down, smoothing the memory into the coat of the gemstone. I did not like to record my failures, but they did not occur all too often - and besides, what use was there of a pearl like mine if I avoided using it? I shook my head to clear my mind. The day was nearly over, and it would not do to stay out late. I turned around and stretched out my wings. Ensuring I had all I had gathered so far in my venture, I took to the skies and began my way home.
