Before the Rebith, or the Calamity, or even the Clan itself, there had simply been Abrastil. A fae egg had hatched in the Zephyr Steppes, and a hatchling had cralwed out, shaking off the remaining green blue shells. Faes are not generally meant to live in the Windswept Plateau- they were too small, too light, and even the smallest breeze could blow a baby fae over, sending them tumbling off a cliff or tearing holes into their paper thin wings.

But Abrastil... he had surprised every dragon there, who had looked at him and felt pity. He surprised them, for he had not hunkered down from the winds, but instead embraced them; he allowed himself to be taken afloat, like a kite navigating the sky, and learned to fly so quickly that one could almost argue he never touched the ground at all.

And he never would, for the rest of his life.
-
Abrastil flourished in the windswept plateau, as much as any Spiral or Skydancer, and indeed almost more so. He was a wind touched Fae, at home with the sky and never touching the ground, everchanging as the wind and breezes that he played with. He roosted on the bamboo sticks, weaving his own place to sleep. With his sky blue scales, he was practically indisinguishable from a cloudless sky.

Eventually of course, Abrastil decided to leave. He left, armed with nothing but the apparel on his back and a nimbleness to his wings, eyes set to the horizon.

It was during his travels as a dancer than he would eventually meet the two dragons who would first gain his deep, boundless affection, compared to the fleeting interest he usually had.

She was the first. A female mirror named Athame, carribean blue and green. She was agressive at first, annoyed by the flighty fae who would flit about her head, but they had to travel together in a company. Abrastil was nothing but relentless, and eventually... She grew to love him. He did not recuperate.

Or so he believed.

Until she disappeared into the night, nothing but leaves marking her disappearance, and Abrastil knew sorrow and pain like he never had before. So much so that he couldn't bear staying in that company, that he fled with the winds towards a new land.

He met Oratorio in the Sunbeam Ruins. She couldn't be more different from Athame- she was playful, a teasing coquette flirting with a new partner. He was charmed by her, so cheerful and fiery like the sun, so different than the other pearls.

"One day, Abra," She told him, as they watched the sun set. "I'm going to run away. I'm going to run away and prove that we aren't the 'best' of the dragons."

Abrastil had watched her, wreathed in dizzying golden red sunlight, and had asked her to marry him.

Love didn't solve all their problems, but it certainly feel like it for them. The two returned to Windswept Plateu, and established a lair. Friends Abrastil had met on his travels came by to visit at first, and eventually to stay. The two had many children, and all was well. For once in his life, Abrastil felt no urge to fly away, happy to be where he was.

But one day, a calamity befell the clan. It was taboo to speak of it even now, and no one outside a few would truly know what happened, but the calamity stole away many dragon lives, including that of Abarstil's mate and wife.

Sorrow became his constant companion, an overenthusiastic familiar dogging his steps. Abrastul grew frail and thin, weaker and weaker by the passing day, wilting like a plant without light. The clan was in desperation, unwilling to lose their leader so soon after the calamity, when a healer showed up at the door.

Abrastil had weakly opened his eyes, only to stiffen and rise shakily.

"Athame..?"
