Abraxas

Feared by many, Abraxas is the captain of The Serpent's Demise, a small pirate ship that sails the seas, searching for plunder.There are countless legends told about Abraxas, ranging from benign to outright terrifying. Its said that no one, not even his own crew, knows the truth. No matter what rumors are whispered about Abraxas behind his back, everyone can agree that there is something decidedly off about him.Some claim that he's immortal, others that he's cursed, but one thing is certainly true: he's searching for something, and is willing to do anything to find it

Abraxas was not always what he is now. Originally, he was from a large clan of merchant dragons who resided on a small, secluded island and sent out shipments of their goods. Abraxas was one of the most curious members of his clan, and spent many long days wondering what the world beyond their island held. One day, he mustered up his courage and sailed away from the island, seeking out answers to his questions about the rest of the world. But his questions were never to be answered. A terrible storm caught him while he was out at sea, and Abraxas' boat sank, leaving him stranded in the midst of the sea.

He flew for days in an attempt to find land, but had no luck and eventually succumbed to the deep. His body was found by a creature of the deep and, emboldened by curiosity, the creature attempted to bring him back to life. However, something went terribly wrong and Abraxas became a creature of the deep himself. Now, he is immortal, cursed to live as an eldritch being until the end of his days as he sails the sea, desperate to find a cure.

Although he originally saw his captaincy of The Serpent's Demise as part of his curse, over time he eventually grew to enjoy it. The rest of his ever-expanding crew are all cursed in a way similar to he is, and their companionship has brought him a great deal of comfort. He keeps the ship safe, the crew happy, and is always on the lookout for a way to free himself or any of his companions.
