Ladydream
Cunning Dragon

Personality:

She doesn't talk much, and prefers to sit there and listen. To hear her voice, they say, is to hear angels sing. This is ridiculous, as it means the medicine is just working on her clients. Ladydream is, as her name implies, a lady of the realm of dreams. She uses a mix of herbs and potions to send dragons into a deep sleep, then she uses her magic to manipulate their dreams. The job requires a very delicate touch on magic, and thus a very calm personality. Ladydream is one of the calmest dragons someone can meet. She doesn't get excited easily and prefers to sit there and smile. If anything, she disturbs some dragons near her. She can understand why they would get to upset, after all, she can't help but poke around in dragon's minds when their awake.
Friends don't talk about her badly, mostly because she has none. She doesn't want any. Friends would complicate her job. Instead, she lets her clients speak fondly of her, as she has never had an upset customer. If they wake up angry, they'll find themselves falling asleep again, and she will redo her job, calming their spirits and their nightmares. Some that have heard rumors of her would say that she's nothing more than a dream eating witch that lures dragons into her den with promises of immortality. This is all false. She lures them in with promises of a good night's sleep and for their subconscious to stop eating at them. Ladydream has never stopped the rumors, however. They are good for business. Many a curious dragon and beast have come to her to see if the rumors are true, and they leave with the exact opposite, which raises more curiosity.

Ladydream is tricky. A cunning dragon to say in the least. Her smile can mean so many things, after all. Is her smile that of a snake's? Or that of an honest dragon's? Her eyes are always narrowed slightly, making her appearance appear even more menacing, but she will say it is for the aura, but no one realized why she does the job she does. Her past is locked away tightly from all that ask about it. Who knows what her actual motives are? Not the leader of her clan, not her customers. Oh, nothing horrible. She says that if someone ask her, but that's all she'll say. Once she speaks, she goes back to answering in small nods and shakes of the head. Getting information out of her is like trying to pry a Chimera's jaws off of a piece of meat. It just won't happen. Her 'slip-ups' are carefully laid out plans, and her web is getting more detailed at every passing second.

History:

Water dragons have a reputation as calm dragons. Dragons that can see into the future and not fret. Ladydream was born with these skills, but her parents can't seem to remember her hatching. Or raising her. She showed up one day, full grown and calling them her parents. They believed her because she just seemed to sure of herself, but to this day they can't seem to remember anything. Not that they have anything to remember. Ladydream has made sure her past from before her 'parents' met her was erased in the minds of the dragons she worked on. Her motives to her parents were unknown, and strange. She spent her time studying books at Spiral Keep, not seeming to care if the Tidelord found her. If he did, she could just swim away, so what was the problem? She isn't afraid of some washed up god like the Tidelord.

She gained her reputation once again after gaining her new body, her former one having grown so old and frail. The new one would do fine for her work. She left her 'parents' as soon as she could, making sure they understood that she was their child. A good cover up. It didn't matter if they didn't really believe her, what mattered was that they were scared of her for some reason, so they would lie. They would lie to every dragon that asked. While her 'parents' lied and told tales of raising her, Ladydream set up shop and got to work. Dragons that couldn't sleep came to her and let her put them to sleep, then she took their dreams apart one by one and devoured the poisonous parts. Yes, she does not require food, but instead dreams. They are what power her magic, after all. There always is a misunderstanding, though. The reason she had to get a new body was due to one. Ladydream is not an evil dragon, nor does she eat dreams because she wishes to do harm. It is the exact opposite.

Her home, the one she lives in now in Arcane, was chosen by her because of the high concentration of attacks. From who? Why, the one real enemy of dragon kind, the one taking over familiars and dragons and causing them harm. The Shade. It attacks the dreams of potential victims, weakening them by lack of sleep until they are nothing more than puppets for the Shade to control. Ladydream saw this after the explosion that wiped out human kind. It had destroyed her original body, even the Speaker had suffered, but the Arcane introduced the Shade back to the world. She quickly adopted a dragon body once the gods began to craft them. To create their children. She then got to work. The Shade would destroy everything, and if she didn't fight it, then who would? The gods and goddess are truly blind to the problem, fighting amongst themselves. Ladydream won't let her world be destroyed again. She will cleanse dragons, setting defenses up inside of them with her magic. Slowly, she is dying, her soul being torn to shreds with every dragon and familiar she treats, but if she can protect a select few, then perhaps there is hope.
