Calbhach had trouble fitting in with the clan at first, largely because of his audio processing difficulties. He couldn't understand the clan matriarch or the only other Stormcatcher devotee at all and at best could only barely communicate with most of the rest of the clan.

So Preachan and some of the other clan members started learning draconic sign language to ease communications. Now they can all communicate easily, and Calbhach sometimes serves as a translator when they need to communicate with Coatls outside their clan, though mostly he spends his time taking care of hatchlings who are… different from the rest.

If you can't fit in with Clan Straif, it should be because of something you did, not who you are, and Calbhac doesn't intend to let hatchlings feel like outcasts in their own home for any reason.
