Biography
It is said by some of the dragons who found this orphan that he is a child of the Lightweaver herself. To this day, more than a few lair-mates steadfastly claim he arrived in this world on a beam of dying sunlight.
Shortly before the Night of the Nocturne was to begin, his clan found him just as the last light of day gave way to a stoic night. As a flash of glim, the very last sunray of that day, beamed through the doorway of the lair...at that exact moment a tiny peal was heard from up the hill where the Sundial sat. When the sound repeated itself, the clan founder Axel's curiosity got the better of him. With his charge Roxas at his heels, and Huangdi near at hand (on his insistance at always having a say in things), the three crept cautiously towards the sound.
At the Sundial itself, in the shadow of its hand, lay a mewling baby Ridgeback. It couldnt've been more than three days old. Its body was crimson and shone in a dazzle. Its wings were deep and faceted, like a newborn night sky. Most striking, however, was the halo of glittering golden spines around its face.
For all the world, it looked like a living sunset sky.
A quick glide around the area told the three dragons that there were no parents to be found. At a loss of what to do, they gently carried the newborn back to their lair. Being the only female Ridgeback at the lair at the time, Exploit immediately nominated herself as the new little one's foster mother (to Aether's chagrin-her parenting instincts drove her to do the same, but she resigned herself to be the ever-doting aunt).
As to how he earned his name...no one taught him his peculiar habit, which further fuels the Lightweaver-child theory.
From the time he learned to stand, this dragon has made it his business to see the Lightweaver to sleep. Every day at sunset, no matter were he is, when its last ray is about to depart he goes outside and faces the West. He streches his wings wide and stands perfectly still, mimicking the colors of the very sky above him, waiting for the certain moment. Then, when that final ray flashes across the horizon, he lets out a mighty roar and blasts a beam of light towards the fading sun itself.
It is his promise to the Sun that it will sleep peacefully, and that he will guard it in his dreams through its sleep until it dawns again.
