I am the left brain, I am the left brain
'I work really hard 'til my inevitable death' brain
This is the left brain.
Objective, logical, cold, analytical.
Aware of patterns, aware of trends.
He's efficient.
And a jerk.
Lothar worked hard - perhaps, a little too hard.
His mind worked like a calculator - numbers and figures didn’t phase or intimidate him in the slightest. Rather, they interested him. To what number could he count? What equations could he not solve? What mysteries of the universe could he ponder over today? It was almost like a game to him. That is, if he believed in games. The Pearlcatcher was a dragon of business and duty, and believed not in acts of leisure or play. He was objective and blunt, to the point where he often offended others, albeit unintentionally. Additionally, he always insists on doing things his way - it IS the right way, after all, and the most logical course of action. This didn’t mean he was coldhearted simply to harm others, but rather he found no reason to bend his will or sugarcoat the facts for anyone else’s benefit. Because of his attention to detail and work ethic, he was put on the original team of organizers for the Spellbound Clan’s massive treasure hoard. In his care, each coin was carefully counted and stashed away safely, and every little trinket was written down and sorted. That is, until Hokulani came around. Hokulani was another Pearlcatcher dragon, but that’s where the similarities ended. She was loud, emotional, expressive, and passionate. Lothar believed that her livelihood and carefree nature made her a horrible candidate as an organizational expert, but, nonetheless, leader Artie assigned her to the position. This made his life a lot harder - his air of silence and peace being clouded by his new partner, chatting of a storm above him. He spent several weeks resenting her - hating her, even. He tried to avoid her at all costs, but her caring and friendly nature made it nearly impossible to do. But there was one thing about her that he could not deny - she told some pretty good jokes. Her humor was intelligent - perhaps impressively so - and it got a few chuckles out of him, even on his worst days. He found himself telling jokes to her, too - something he never imagined doing. With her heart and his mind, they found something they could finally bond over - comedy. As the population of the Spellbound Clan expanded, there were more dragons than ever assigned to certain jobs. Lothar and Hokulani were joined in the hoard by Schlimazel and Schadenfreude, two dragons who shared a similar opposites-attract friendship. With the hoard being more than attended to, Lothar and Hokulani retired from their old job to become comedians. They tour Sornieth and have shows in all different regions, going to whatever clans will have them and living off of tips and donations. Of course, they occasionally return to their homeland - eager to tell everyone the new jokes and sketches they’ve perfected. |
