Shoga is the resident plague rat of the clan, and a social outcast. Try as she might to keep her fur clean and trimmed, her aura festers with pestilence, and her skin is very thin and delicate, bruising easily, and sometimes simply oozing blood or pus for no particular reason -- and her coloring makes it even more difficult to tell what's natural, and what isn't. Shoga might not be contagious, but even the Fire dragons have the urge to burn their clothes if they accidentally brush against her.

Shoga tends to be quiet and perpetually embarrassed. She tries to stay out of the way, doing her best to dress prettily, keep her bandages clean, and look nice from the distance that she keeps between herself and other dragons. She favors wearing roses, in an attempt to mask the inescapable waft of blood and decay that follows her everywhere, and she'll even wear extra thorns just so that her random bleeding isn't so startling to onlookers - though unfortunately she isn't very graceful, and actually cuts herself on the thorns very often. She endures it for the sake of having a chance at beauty, and says she doesn't mind, since she bleeds all the time anyway. She endures without complaint the various pokes and prods she receives from Ashan, who is always interested in the nasty ways that dragons suffer, and Salem, who remains determined to "cure" Shoga of whatever ails her.

Having little aptitude for the arts of war, Shoga earns her keep in the clan by scavenging in places that no one else wants to go, but that aren't particularly dangerous. Sometimes she spends time with Taro -- she finds him to be a strange and difficult dragon to hold a conversation with, but at least he doesn't seem to mind her stench. And his eyes look like hers! Yay, a friend.
