Gloomy

Gloomy wasn’t born gloomy. He grew up in the Southern Icefields, in a small and happy lair. He was a young dragon who studied under a magic tutor taught by the Arcane University. The tutor taught him many things about magic in general, but a special amount of emphasis was put into the shade and shade essence.

Gloomy was always unsure why, and now in hindsight believes that his tutor knew what was in store for his clan. But if he knew what would happen, why wouldn’t he warn all the other dragons?

The tutor disappeared and not two days later was the clan attacked by a small force of beastclan fighters. Although Gloomys clan had fought off beastclans before, these were filled with shade magic. It filled the lair and destroyed and corrupted every dragon. Gloomy tried his hardest to save his parents and his siblings, but he knew he had to run to save himself in the end.

He used his knowledge of the shade to save himself, but he remained scarred by the obvious signs
of the shade-touched. Dark swirling scars lined his side, and where he went dragons would look at him and know something terrible had happened, and even some more superstitious dragons had thought him to carry some darkness that could kill everyone at any point.

Gloomy knew he couldn’t survive alone, so his only hope was to find some dragons who knew enough about the shade to know that he couldn’t hurt anyone. Jötunheimr was one of the few in the Southern Icefields who had a large knowledge of magic, and even a very small coven within.

The Jötunheimr coven was all females, so he offered his knowledge to the other medics and healers in the clan. He exists somewhere between all the groups, his knowledge useful to those touched by the shade, but his scars keeping people away, his arcane knowledge useful to the witches, his gender and age keeping him apart.

His nickname is Gloomy because as yet no one has asked his real name, and it seems fitting.
