Biography

In her youth, Octavia was always told she was born under an auspicious star. Most water-flight dragons had some sort of precognition, but Octavia's gifts ran in a different direction. She always seemed to be able to rest a claw on Lady Luck's scale, in one way or another, and learn how luck flowed around other dragons. This set her up pretty handily for a career as a fortune-teller, but Octavia soon grew bored with chattering with rich idiots about their petty little lives.

Sometimes, the nastiest of those clients would confide in her, seeing her as sort of outlet for a guilty conscience. Perhaps they assumed a Skydancer would be understanding. Octavia had never been the friendly or understanding type. She had, however, always had a strong sense of justice. Octavia's slide into target assassination, and from there into paladin work, was only surprising to those who didn't know her all that well. Octavia had never been nice, nor particularly kind, but she sure as hell could make life better and easier for the people who were.

Now, though, Octavia has left that life behind. She's retired to live on the beach, right on the edge of Clan AXQU's territory. She doesn't regret her life. Not really. But she very much wishes she had a lovely, soft, sweet wife around her age to share her newly peaceful life with. She occasionally teaches combat and meditation to youngsters in Clan AXQU, but Octavia vastly prefers quiet and solitude. Her Leatherback Wave Sweeper is more than enough company, most days.

She's got an unexpected soft spot for women in bad situations with bad men, and will go out of her way to help get them out. Up to and including removing the men in question from existence entirely. Octavia doesn't care too much about redemption or talking them through healing; that's not Octavia's role in the world.

Octavia still isn't particularly kind or nice, but she's good to her animal companion and she's good to the few dragons she cares about. And for her, that's good enough.
