It's hard sometimes to see the truth behind the walls we've built around our minds.

She was cold. Cold and quiet. The breath of life had seemed to skip her, moving in years later to a younger brother. But that didn't matter, to her the ice was beautiful. She loved the way she could step back, feel everything in others and see the world and all its darkened secrets. She could watch the crows fall, feel the softness of the bellies of snakes. She could wander freely, untouched by all that was around her. Disconnected.

It wasn't that she thought she was better than others. They just seemed to stay away from the strange child who dreamed of ice instead of fairies. So she just ignored the others, not a difficult task when one is a small fae.

This disconnection with everyone from her family led her to seek a fortune outside of her home clan. She wanted to leave, spread her wings and disappear. So she did. She left as soon as she was old enough, with an empty promise to return.

She found a small outcrop of rocks along the plains and decided to stay. The jagged boulders hid her home from view, and she happily settled in by herself. She grew brambles up to protect her lair, stacking and digging tunnels to make a home for herself. Like all faes, her instinct was to build a nest of amber. Instead of building a nest, however, she made a cave. A glittering dwelling where she could store her treasures in beauty, large enough for a guardian to stand in.

She was immensely pleased with the home she had established, guarding it fiercely. She would make daily rounds to ensure no other dragon was trespassing on her territory, once in the morning, and another time in the evening. On one of these expeditions, she discovered a wildclaw covered in blood and dirt collapsed near the edge of her territory. She had never really had another dragon trespass before, and wasn't quite sure what to do. So she ran with her instincts and fetched medical supplies for the much larger dragon. She could remember him opening his eyes, and seeing fear in them before a massive white flash engulfed her vision.

When she woke up, the wildclaw she had bandaged was leaning over her. But now he wasn't so large. Rather, nose-to-nose they were about equal. The wildclaw told her of the strange light and her transformation, one she was quite pleased with. She invited the wildclaw to her lair to stay and be healed, which the wildclaw laughed about. He was almost better already, with a fast healing factor. But he came along anyway, and has not left since. The two became mates, and together they built a noble clan on the moors. Now massive bamboo trees stand guard at the entrance, curling ribbons wrapped around them. A gentle mist spills from the forest, and a beaten path can barely be seen through it. It leads into a clearing littered with light and beautiful things, and dragons who are respectful and noble.

Mace and Robin separate. The children are split, and the family is dealing with a great amount of turmoil. Mace goes so far as to move the clan away from their old home.

The clan has settled into Light Flight.

Mace left her original clan entirely and was taken in by the Cloudfall Wanderers clan. Her children were left behind and they have no idea where she is.

Mace, the dragon of light. She rules over the land by day, teaching those focused on the arts of magic and creation. Her rule alongside her partner, Robin, is one of the most peaceful known to the clan. However, peaceful does not mean unprepared. The Lady Mace has a special class of warrior known as the Sun's Guard. Each dragon is chosen as a hatchling to serve under her tutelage and learn the ways of fighting under the sun.

Or she did before her love ditched her and she abandoned her clan.

"Just think of me as a really dangerous bumble bee.-laughter- Oh! I know, they're not very dangerous at all."
