Solace

Solace wasn't always mad at the world. In fact, he had been a sunny sort of hatchling. The youngest of four, he looked up to all of his family. His brilliant father, skilled in alchemy. His mother, with her stories of the world, and tattoos to prove her adventures true. His siblings and their wild imaginations. In Solace's world, everything was perfect.

Until his father ruined it all.

One moment, his was a big happy family. The next, his mother was gone, and his father was to blame. His siblings, hating to share space with their father, immediately took to training, offering themselves to the Plaguebringer when they believed themselves to be worthy to serve her. Solace had full intention to as well, training with his elders in the coliseum in preparation to serve.

He attacked, and attacked, and attacked. His siblings left the clan at level seven, but as he passed six, and seven, and eight, he discovered he liked it.
As he fought the beastclans, he felt relief. He imagined each one was his father, throwing his full fury into each attack as he thought of his father tearing his family apart.
His elder with whom he trained, Karas, saw a worthy ally in Solace, laughing incredulously at the young dragons skill in battle. The two became fast friends, and went on to protect the clan from any dangers that they encountered.

With age, his hatred for his father never lessened, only made itself easier to ignore.
The smell of materials brewing, which used to make him feel warm and cozy as a hatchling, now made him feel hot and annoyed.

One particularly bad day, after being knocked out in the coliseum multiple times, he came home to his clan to smell the sharp scent of genes being brewed. It made him angry, angrier than it should have, and he had full mind to go in the brewing lab, to knock the pot over- no, to force his father into the pot, when the sharp scent was replaced by the smell of salt and foreign territories.

His mother was home.

His hatred for his father still has not lessened, but for the first time in so long, he is happy. As he helps Luna train in the coliseum, she tells him and his team stories of her travels. The family isn't big, or even a family in traditional terms, but the fighting team is the only family Solace will ever need.
