Biography

DEVLIN
Chief Engineer

The resident inventor and engineer, Devlin leads the lair's crew of engineers. For the sake of keeping everything operating like clockwork, the most they've really gotten done is the installation of clocks throughout the lair, as well as the maintenance and synchronisation of these timepieces. Any other tech in the lair also falls under their purview, as they work tirelessly to keep everything in working order. It's not unusual for the other dragons to come to Devlin or his team with some piece of broken tech that they'd found somewhere to ask for it to be repaired, and Devlin in particular sees each opportunity as a chance to learn something new and to challenge himself.

Devlin never really spent as much time around his mother as did some of his siblings, and as such he's one of her forgotten children. While most other dragons don't seem to pay their parents quite so much mind, after spending so much time making a name for himself as an engineer in the clan, he began to notice that his half-brother Aramis spends an awful lot of time with their mother, and has an ongoing relationship with her. The fact that his mother apparently forgot him sometimes irks Devlin, but he spends most of his time hard at work and doesn't think about it very often. He's surrounded himself with his family of engineers, who are close-knit enough to resemble something of an impromptu family, despite the lack of blood ties. But when there's a lull in the work and Devlin is left alone, he can't help but wonder why it is that his mother cares more for Aramis and his adoptive family than for her other son.

For all their innovation, Devlin began to realise that the inventions he and his engineer comrades had assembled were not always so easy to replicate without reverse engineering the previous versions. Annoyed, he put the other projects on hold, taking the team off their other tasks to document every last piece of technology that they'd ever assembled. The painstaking work took them weeks, but by the end of it, they had a collection of blueprints, allowing them to better mass-produce anything they'd ever made. While Synapse had been a great help with finalising the blueprints, being a skilled designer, she had no mind or interest for keeping track of it all or organising any of it. To that end, Devlin went about finding someone to keep track of everything.

Checking in with the librarians, most of them were too caught up in their own tasks to devote any of their time to organising blueprints for the engineers. Until Devlin met Codex. She jumped at the chance for something different to do besides filing away book records, and found the blueprints and gadgets fascinating. As they organised the blueprints and arranged a scheme for storage and categorisation, the two of them discussed for hours the works of the engineers and in the library.

As they continued to work together, they found that they worked very well, and that they got along quite well, to boot. The two decided that they ought to see each other outside of work, to do something other than just handling blueprints. The rest is history, as they are a very happy couple and since then have also become proud parents.
