Blacksmith
Metal Artisan Extraoirdinaire "I'm more a 'maker of fiddly doo-dads,' but I mean, sure I can make you some armor." Kepler came to the Sunbeam Ruins for a very simple reason - he wanted to see everything the ancients made and see if he could make something like it. Sure, if you're a blacksmith, maybe one of the best places to hang out is in the Ashfall Waste, where there's always heat going on, or maybe even back home in Dragonhome where ores and jewels can be found aplenty. But Kepler's not really a 'functional' blacksmith when you get right down to it. Oh, sure, he can fix that hook or bang out a few nails (and really, those folks down in The Hewn City look like they might need some nails to keep their lairs together) or even patch that busted armor before a fighter's next trip to the Mire. But does that make his heart sing and his nose itch with joy? Not really. His engraving hand is top-notch. He twists tiny nothings of metal into curlicues and art, bringing a little more artistry to the mundane where you least expected it. After all, something can be functional and beautiful, can't it? Why does there have to be compromise? Kepler gets in a little bit of trouble due to his Ridgeback nature. He tends to 'borrow' other dragons' research notes, especially if they're on the things the ancients used to have. He's in love with antiquity, and will happily put himself at risk to study everything and anything about the past. Not every 'borrow' he enacts is quite so nobly motivated, however. Sometimes he just likes to rile the others at the Sanctuary. He especially likes to borrow Artemis' pens. It's a fantastic game. He likes to see how long it takes her to notice he's taken them, and how many he can borrow before she calls him out on it. Kepler is an exceptional flier, having mastered everything his father had to teach him and then some. When he needs to blow off steam, he is sometimes seen racing anyone and anything that can fly, cutting between crashing waves near the shore, or flying precision routes through obstacle courses he designed. In friends, he seeks lighthearted individuals who can take jokes but remain passionate and driven in their craft. He has very little patience for layabouts, and while he enjoys chewing the cud with the best of them, he is happiest in his forge.
