B I O G R A P H Y ______ Originally, Chromegaze spent much of her time patrolling the clan's borders and bringing back food, occasionally helping in fighting back intruders and looking after Steelfire. Since she was afflicted with permanent magical corruption, she's found that she doesn't have the energy for it and instead stays in her lair, working as a leatherworker as she's insistent that her sorrows and affliction shouldn't keep her from being useful. She pushes herself past her limits often, exceeding her energy reserves and worrying her family and Feltus sick. Even Kyverok and Valmera can't seem to cure her magical affliction, but she insists that it barely bothers her. ______ Chromegaze has had a troubled romantic life from the start. She met Icecrystal when they were both young, and they were fast friends. They became mates once they reached adulthood and had several clutches of eggs before he died in a freak training accident with Chromegaze's brother, Shock. He did all he could, but Icecrystal was too far gone to save. Stricken with grief, Chromegaze secluded herself in her lair for months. When she finally deemed herself recovered enough to come out, she sought comfort with Zalaele where he offered it and they tentatively started a relationship. Once it started to get serious, however, he dropped her for WitchesBrew when she sprang from Kalkrox's cauldron, leaving Chromegaze once more heartbroken and, this time, furious. ______ WitchesBrew had been in the clan for less than two years when she mysteriously vanished. Many suspected Chromegaze of killing her, but no evidence was ever raised against her. Several members of the clan vilified her due to suspicions that she murdered WitchesBrew, but she hadn't ever touched her. Chromegaze knew that Zalaele had simply bored of her and disposed of her in the easiest way he could, just like he'd disposed of Lufa. It was, however, a death sentence to confront him, so Chromegaze stayed quiet, letting the clan hate her for a crime that she hadn't committed. ______ But, eventually, Chromegaze snapped. She confronted Zalaele in his lair and flustered him with accusation after accusation until he attacked her, trying to shut her up and get rid of her just like he had Lufa and WitchesBrew. She was badly injured, pure magical energy worming its way into her scales, and would have been killed had Seven not swept into the cave and intervened. He summoned the peacekeepers and they restrained Zalaele, allowing Chromegaze to be rushed to Feltus and Kyverok for immediate healing and to dispel as much of the residual magic as they could. Klaeod immediately kicked Zalaele from the clan, telling him, in no uncertain terms, to never show his face again and that he was lucky to be alive. Zalaele left, and the clan has not heard from him since. ______ Chromegaze is happier, now that he's gone. She's slowly recovered from the death of Icecrystal and is now on the road to recovering from her brush with Zalaele. While she may never get rid of the physical marks it left on her- the scars on her wing and the magic on her scales- she's chosen to embrace it as a mark, as proof, that she's lived, and that she can make it through anything that life throws it her. _
