Thorns owns a little stall in the market, selling trinkets and baubles to those who have the coin. She is pleasant and friendly, and for every piece she will tell a story. Hardly any of the stories are true, but the way she tells them, buyers want to believe they are. Her flesh is covered in illegible runes, but Thorns knows their purpose. They have been there since she broke her oath as a secret keeper and lost her Charge. She knows that every day they are different, each one a different secret she had taken upon herself and sullied with her weakness. In Oakrest, she is still a collector of secrets. But here, she will sell them for a price. While her mate watches the gates to the Citadel, Thorns watches and listens to those in the market. Without anyone confiding in her, she takes their measures and will gladly sell rumors and tales - true tales, not fictions for her stall - if a buyer has the coin to make it worth her while.

Radomir - Thorns' mate, Radomir is one of the Citadel guards. His open and simple appearance hides his shrewd observation and cunning. Though the two are rarely seen in public together, they are known to be devoted mates.

Thorns was once a guardian, and secrets were her Charge. She was fascinated by all manner of subterfuge and deception, as well as ancient books, rumors, and all manner of things other people wouldn't want the world to know. But once, she learned a terrible truth. It ate at her, worming its way through her thoughts in daytime, her dreams at night. She could not bear it, and she broke the confidence she so dearly kept.

Her heart wounded by shame as she could not bear her own Charge, she fled her home lair. But all who met her as a guardian broke her heart anew. They looked to her with hope that she could be trusted. And she knew the truth.

Thorns employed an alchemist to change her shape, for she felt she was not worthy of the breed to which she was born. And she emerged a creature of the shadowed dark, serpentine, and comfortable in herself once more.

Now, Thorns only keeps her own secrets. The one she holds most tightly is that of her life before she came to Dragonhome.

She did not always live in Oakrest. She arrived shortly after the tunnels were sealed and was fascinated by the small collection of refugees who remained within sight of their home. When she asked why they remained, even though it seemed perhaps all was lost, Bordeaux answered, "We stay in hopes that none are lost, and in case all are. Someone must hold the line beyond the wall. If it fails and none are here to face what comes next, then all may well be lost."

Fascinated by this foolhardiness in the face of the fall of his clan, Thorns decided to stay with Bordeaux for a time and learn what she could from him of the situation.
