Before the arrival of the elemental mages, Ferrugem lead Featherstone and kept his claws clashed tight around the flow of trade, taking a good-sized portion as tax. Quotas were enforced to ensure the flow of resources does not stop. However, when the elemental mages arrived and began to follow Zosite, his power began to wane. The clan was unhappy under his leadership, and still viewed Zosite as the true leader Featherstone. The elemental mages had much more raw power then him and his gang of guards, and enforced a much more hands-off and favorable policy. After some conflict, Ferrugem was forced to stand down, demoted to head of the guard. The elemental mages still keep a close eye on him.

Ferrugem joined the Featherstone clan very early in it's history, as a young, confident dragon. He was born from high-ranking parents in the Rotrock Rim, but could never quite live up to their high expectations. Frustrated and angry, he ran away from his home. Determined to prove himself, he hopped from clan to clan within the Scarred Wasteland, working odd jobs in a vain attempt to claw his way to the top. During his time in the Scarred Wasteland, he adopted a hyperbolic plague mindset. To survive, one must do whatever is required- including lie, kill, and betray.

After figuring he could not make his way in the domain of the Plaugebringer, he searched for a new home elsewhere. Preferably, someone where a clan was just forming. If he learned anything, it was that the majority of those who made history formed clans.

It didn't take long. Zoisite took Ferrugem in as a new member of her slowly growing clan. Overjoyed, He was quick to learn under her guidance. Clan organization and dealing with Beastclans were favorite studies. Seeing how sharp this small one seemed, Zoisite included him in leadership duties. During this time Glenwen, his current mate, courted him. He did not love her, but having a mate was advantageous. Soon after the laying of their second clutch, he left her and abandoned their daughter for the new innkeeper, who had caught his eye.

When Zoisite feel sick, he saw his opportunity. She made him promise to take good care of her clan while she rested, and he was only too happy to agree. His new position as acting leader was everything he ever wanted. No one could stop him, not without going against Zoisite's command. He remained as acting leader until the arrival of the elemental mages.
