This dragoness is brave and proudly so, unafraid of bending the natural laws of society. She is passionate in her work and plainly straightforward with her thoughts and intentions.

Ankina is a completely average-sized female Wildclaw, and very plainly colored on top of that. Her deep purple eyes contrast sharply to her nearly white scales, often causing dragons to take a second glance at her or even stare for a bit to try and discern which flight she was born to. Her feathers are a dull, aged off-white despite her young age. Her only unique factor is the golden full-body tattoo across her white canvas from head to toe.

Even as a young hatchling, this dragoness knew that she was born to be different. She had no interest in learning how to lie or cheat her way into getting what she wanted as most Shadow dragons do instinctively; she wanted to study and learn genuinely. In fact, she never lied about anything as even an innocent hatchling would. She is and always has been bluntly truthful about everything, and she saw that attribute as a great virtue.

Ankina's family scorned her at a young age for trying to teach herself how to read and write scrolls rather than being obsessed with learning underhanded board games. Still she rebelled, often rambling out loud about wonderings of the universe and of the deities that created them. The final straw with her parents, though, was an accidental utterance that sent her life spinning:
"If the deities exist, why did the Shadowbinder send me here instead of allowing me to be born under Lightweaver's guidance?"

Disgusted with her words, Ankina's parents forced her out of the nest and into the world, cursing her and warning her to never return. Although a bit upset and unprepared, the young dragoness was not completely distraught by being forced to leave. In fact, with all of her studying, she had learned to fly, read, write, and which creatures were safe for dragons of her size to eat. The border between the murky Shadow forests and the Light woods was not as far from her birthplace as she thought; it only took two days to find and cross over into the Light domain. For a few years she lived in this forest, but tooth-and-claw survival was not her forte. She wanted to live in a civilized place. Thus, she spread her wings once more and arrived at the place of her dreams: The Mirrorlight Promenade.

Only a week or two passed before things began to go downhill for Ankina. Light dragons hissed and scowled upon seeing her, especially at the young and impressionable age she was; she could easily be a spy for the Shadowbinder. As much as she tried to fit in, her eyes always gave her away. Misery and hopelessness overtook her as the home she had always wanted was stripped from her by the circumstances of her birth.

On a particularly bad day, Ankina was creeping shyly through a local marketplace when a snarky drake made a comment about her oily gaze. In a sudden outburst, she turned and snapped at him, hissing and demanding to be treated fairly. The pretentious scholars gasped and turned on her, sending guards to tackle her to the ground and restrain her. They threw a sack over her head and dragged her out to the ruins of the Hewn City, tossing her into a puddle and leaving her to die. That was when she finally realized the truth: if she was going to survive, she needed to do it on her own.

The dragoness grew accustomed to life in the fog-shrouded ruins of what was once beautiful architecture. Few dragons ever crossed through the area, but beasts and creatures of all shapes and sizes dwelled in the darkness. Ankina quickly befriended them, learning how to communicate using signals, gestures, clicks, and even the native language of many different lesser beasts, including members of a few Beastclans. The hood the Light dragons had used to cover her head now served as a perfect headdress to disguise the color of her eyes. She collected woven cloth, discarded silks, and lost jewelry that washed up in the sewers of the City, combining the apparel to create a perfect representation of a Light citizen in any way possible. Since the beginning of her life at the Hewn City, Ankina had been planning for return to the Promenade. With her elegant new guise, she felt as if she were the dragon she had truly meant to be.

Before leaving the ruins that had melded to her heart and become the place she called home, the young dragoness took part in a tribal ritual that was regional only to the Light domain. After Ankina crouched down and rested her chin submissively to the earth, an elderly centaur woman began to tirelessly tattoo her scales with exuberant shades of gold. The penmanship outlined the journey she had taken in her life thus far, the design patterned so delicately by the elder Beast's hands that it seemed like each fiber of Ankina's hide had its own unique story to tell. The design was complex, like Ankina's life and state of being. The artwork was accented with dark and black undertones, symbolizing her shadowed roots and indicating that they were a part of her journey and not something to be ashamed of. Once the centaur had finished her work, the Wildclaw stood and bowed respectfully in gratitude. Finally, she was ready.

With a final goodbye to all of her friends and companions in the City, Ankina stretched her wings and took flight. Gently, she landed along the outskirts of the Promenade, holding her head high and parading up the steps in a pretentious Light-borne manner. Dragons all along the marble walkways turned to stare, but not in alarm and distaste as they had before – They stared in awe of her beauty. She beamed with pride, her heart swelling with love and thanks to the Lightweaver. But another deity, to Ankina's demise, had a different plan for her.

For at least two months, Ankina lived in the Mirrorlight Promenade, even making visits occasionally to the Sundial Terrace to pray to the Lightbringer. Locals began to grow suspicious of her, though, when they offered for her to remove her hood and she consistently refused for some ill excuse each time. During a midday gathering, the streets bustling with activity under the warm rays of Lightbringer's sun, a Pearlcatcher "accidentally" knocked into her, causing her hood to fall. She screeched in despair and shut her eyes tightly, but it was too late.

A massive Imperial lunged forward and tossed her aside while commoners shouted profanities and called her a lousy spy. Her body was flung across the Promenade and slammed against one of the massive pillars, the breath knocked from her lungs as the column cracked and grumbled under the stress of the impact. She stood, dizzied by the attack, but as she stood the great pillar crumbled under its own weight and collapsed, shattering and scraping the marble floors of the Promenade.

Dragons gasped in horror, hatchlings wailed, and merchants cowered as the Shadow dragoness apparently knocked down the sacred place they called home. Terrified, Ankina scrambled forward and leaped off of the steps of the Promenade, flying as far and as fast as she could in a flurry of tears and heartbreak. Her dream was wrenched from her claws over and over, and there was no way for her to stop it. She felt as though she was cursed, destined to do nothing more than create a burden for those around her.

When she could pump her wings no more, Ankina was forced to alight near the edge of the Plague domain, panting and trembling. A white Skydancer came across her and placed a gentle hand on her shoulder, his knowing gaze giving her more comfort than she had ever experienced before. He took her back to his clan, offering a soothing welcome to the dragoness and allowing her to rest.

During her few days of recovery, she watched the clan in its everyday life and for once she was at peace, feeling a sense of acceptance that had never applied to her life in any way before that moment. Over time, she felt a connection to this clan more than any she had ever previously experienced. This clan became known to her as the Z'Arduani, and more importantly, it became her home. She took up the role of a Beastclan Interpreter and helped to establish alliances with neighboring Harpy and Centaur tribes. The longer she stayed in the clan, the more Ankina began to realize that she had been praying to the wrong Goddess all along. Her journey represented endurance through the hardest of struggles – one of Plaguebringer's ideals. Her allegiance now lies with Plaguebringer, although her heart still yearns for the acceptance of Lightweaver.
