SEDNA
"But seriously, give me a heads up next time we're on the verge of being exiled. I have my eye on a great spot in the Reedcleft Ascent."

Despite being one of the longest standing members of Beta, Sedna has never possessed any interest in scientific research of any kind. She originally encountered Beta progenitors Aranea and Pallas when the pair were little more than contract workers fulfilling odd jobs around the Shifting Expanse without any laboratory of their own. Any curiosity on their part as to why a lone Skydancer from the Ice Flight would be wandering the desert heat alone was quickly answered: Sedna had made the long flight over in search of harpies. Much to the confusion and distrust of her original clan, Sedna found the feathered species of Beastclan... unusually appealing. Originally assumed to be uninterested in romance entirely, a messy breakup with a Talonok weapons trader led to Sedna's clan discovering that her interests simply laid elsewhere. Sedna was quick to take the opportunity to leave the Southern Icefields, given the lack of neighbors who met her particular area of fascination. By the time she was encountered by the then-miniscule Clan Beta, Sedna had "contacts" with various harpy clans around Carrion Canyon, but wasn't allowed to stay in any of their cliffside cities. Aranea suggested a solution: Sedna could stay with her, Pallas, and their children. In exchange for their hospitality, Sedna could introduce them to harpy trade networks, allowing the tiny clan access to a wider range of materials and resources than they'd been allotted by the Stormcatcher. It was a fruitful collaboration, one that led to Beta rocketing through the ranks of the Lightning Flight before their more egregiously unpermitted projects were discovered and punished with exile. Sedna was perhaps the only member of Beta at the time to be pleased with their ejection from the Lightning Flight-- their current position in the Sea of a Thousand Currents is perfectly located between the Harpies of the Shifting Expanse and the Talonok of the Windswept Plateau, allowing her to indulge her tastes even further. Sedna's connections and seniority make her the undisputed leader of Beta's Acquisition Division; unlike her birth clan, no one would dare objecting to the ever-rotating stream of feathered beaus at her side. |
