Faint memories sometimes emerge in this Guardian’s mind. Memories of pain, blood, fighting. Of claws and teeth, ripping and shredding. Of anger and fury.
They hold no meaning to him these days, for he cannot be sure if they are truly his.
What he clearly remembers is a chilling cold and darkness worse than that of a moonless night, reaching out for him like hundreds of paws, slowly clawing at his matted scales. And his body, lying amidst all of it, unmoving and numb. Then it had happened. In the corner of his blurry vision he had seen a small shape moving before Zuriel was forced to shut his eyes. Above him formed a beam of light so blinding and radiant, enveloping the Guardian completely and banishing the dark surrounding him.
Zuriel reared his head, able to control his body once more, but no longer possessing the same vision he had before. What he saw then he never shared with anyone.
What he did share from then on was his incredible strength and deep devotion. Now loyal to the Masquerade, Zuriel found his purpose in watching over the ones that cannot defend themselves. He has a soft spot for especially hatchlings and young children and would do anything to keep them safe from harm.
Due to his protective nature, the clan’s members have given him the title “Guardian Angel”.
