Biography
Belligerent Orpheus;
Hailing from the frigid land of ice, the clan's only Nocturne Orpheus is a rather mysterious individual. He was born to a Nocturne female whose mate was present for only a few weeks during the hatchlings' infancy. Orpheus grew up with his mother and two brothers on a barren tundra, learning to hunt swift rabbits as young fledgelings. Eventually, the three young dragons would become expert hunters of young caribou, able to swoop down and attack with surprising speed and accuracy as the animals slept. Orpheus in particular loved the night, and often sneaked out of his den to fly over the land.
On one such nighttime flight, he encountered a female Nocturne named Petal. Orpheus desired her for a mate, but Petal had eyes only for his brother Azure. Orpheus was angered and challenged his brother to a fight for the right to mate with Petal. Azure refused, telling Orpheus that he and Petal were already together. In a blind rage, Orpheus attacked and murdered his brother, telling Petal that Azure had died in a stampede of caribou. However, Orpheus's eldest brother told Petal the truth, and she lashed out at him, nearly succeeding in killing him. Instead, she cursed him for all of his life, calling upon an extraordinarily large raven-like bird known as a Death Seeker to follow him for the rest of his days. Should Orpheus ever return to the tundra where Petal and his family lived, the bird would kill him instantly. Since then, Orpheus has wandered aimlessly across the country, finally finding a resting place in the Zephyr Steppes, where he resides as a member of the clan lead by King Tolkien.
