BerryPoison's parents abandoned him when he was still a hatchling. They just left to hunt and never came back. Maybe they died, who knows.

"I don't care what the reason was! They left me so I will forever resent them."

Managing to survive by himself, he grew into a dragon with a stronger sense of survival than most, even by Plague standards.

As an adult, BerryPoison joined HollowClan.

He soon formed a bond with Fading and became close to her.
"Fading is manipulative and cunning... like me."

The two became mates and had many hatchlings. BerryPoison never paid much attention to his children though, it was always Fading who took care of them. He didn't care to have young dragons around him. However, despite this he always did feel a secret pride whenever they succeeded at something.

BerryPoison outlived Fading. However, he had no real ambition to lead. Instead, he let his descendants fight it out. When the big battle between RunningFear and ShadowFade occurred he didn't choose a side and instead watched from the sidelines. BerryPoison never commented a word, just watched as RunningFear exiled his brother. NightBreeze left with ShadowFade, leaving RunningFear as BerryPoison’s only kin in the clan. When a sickness swept through the clan RunningFear was one of the first to die from it. BerryPoison never admitted it to anyone, but he was heartbroken. His mate was dead and he had lost all his children. BerryPoison left the clan to find NightBreeze and ShadowFade. It is likely this action that saved him the sickness that decimated the clan. BerryPoison survived where the clan didn't.

BerryPoison didn't have the slightest idea of where his children had gone. He chose to travel towards the Wyrmwound, where many dragons gathered to receive the Plaguebringer’s blessing. He was hoping that by luck one of the many dragons there had seen his children. However when BerryPoison reached the Wyrmwound, disaster struck! He lost his footing on the runny soil and fell right into the Wyrmwound. He was lucky; it didn’t kill him, but it did change him. When he reemerged from the dangerous pool, yellow goo dripped from underneath scales. The scales themselves had changed colour and poisonous looking lumps appeared all over his body. His previously quick-witted mind became unsure of anything and he became more beast-like, relying on mainly instincts. The only thing that remained clear to him was his goal. BerryPoison had to find his kids.

The Plaguelands are vast. You could spend your whole life, or even several lifetimes, searching for someone and never find them. Maybe BerryPoison received the Plaguebringer’s blessing while in the Wyrmwound, who knows, because somehow he succeeded in his goal. He found DarkSky while she was away from the clan. She was travelling through the Abiding Boneyard and had left the clan on its own for a moment. At this point in time ShadowFade had already died, DarkSky was the leader of the new clan they had created and FadeClan had taken over HollowClan's old territory.

Despite his changed appearance DarkSky recognised her father. She asked him all kinds of questions, but got no answers other than some grunts and growls. Still DarkSky realised that BerryPoison wasn’t at the level of any old animal. He understood what she was saying... somewhat. She led him back to their camp.

A couple of days went by with DarkSky trying to find out exactly what BerryPoison’s level of intellect was. Most of FadeClan expected her to eventually kill him as an act of mercy; what clan would keep a useless dragon? However DarkSky surprised everyone. She simply told the clan that as long as he wasn’t aggravated, he wouldn’t do anything sudden, like attack someone and that he can hunt for himself. She might not have said it directly, but the clan understood BerryPoison was staying. Nowadays BerryPoison acts as a sort of guard dog for the clan. He understands simple commands like “attack” and “follow”. Most of the time he goes around the territory doing whatever he wants, with the clan doing their best to avoid him. DarkSky is the only one who speaks to him outside of commands, even though she knows he can’t quite understand.

Whenever there’s a threat BerryPoison is the one sent after it. Having a dragon with a crazed look in their eyes charging straight at you with drool flying from their mouth will get anyone to turn around and run!
