The weary leader of a bustling lightning clan, Val spends most of his time managing and planning his clan's activities; making sure that they reach the goals mandated by the Stormcatcher for those who live in his domain. Quiet, and quite frankly a little bit lazy, Val spends most of his time in the clan's lair, poring over schedules and managing the outpost they created for all of the hatchlings who wish to leave home. He finds it impossible to throw out anyone who wishes to leave, so the area is frequently overrun with familiars who followed the fight squad home. He adores Alessia, his other half, who was the first to follow him into the new domain.

When he can be bothered to leave the lair, Val excels finding new clan members who will bring valuable skills into their growing space. He can hold his own in a fight, and he brandishes his favorite rapier with astonishing precision. More often, he sends Alessia out to do the dirty work of carrying out his plans, while he lazes inside with the many familiars who run about. His plans, however, always end up working, no matter how absurd. Planning and foresight can be a gift, even if he never gets up off his butt.
