Biography

Uh-oh, looks like this beautiful flame colored pearlcatcher wandered a little too far from her lair (170131 EccentricElf23) and now she's off to see the world! If ever you feel the urge to exalt, she'd really appreciate it if you could just return her home instead, or to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here. This is not necessary, but she would be very grateful!

Travel Log
During her stay, Horizon learned all sorts of things from the silly dragons of this Shadow clan. Watch out, she might play some of her own tricks in the future.

tumblr_o1zrsv44JN1ufdm5xo1_400.png

While residing in the ice clan Failte, Horizon earned the affections of a small pocket mouse! This mouse hides in her crimson satchel, crafted by the clan to help her carry the loot she gathers along her journey.

tumblr_o1zrsv44JN1ufdm5xo1_400.png

The sun seemed blindingly bright when day rose over the Shattered Plain. Horizon found herself yearning for shadow, and the deeper she went into the landscape, the more sensitive her eyes got. The sand did nothing to absorb the rays of light, and when she finally reached a friendly clan, she'd gotten badly burnt - ironic for a dragon.

Carrying no currency on her, the Pearlcatcher managed to get a soothing salve for her burns only after an old wise woman, Witch, agreed to trade her a flask for her wing bangles. She could always get new ones later, she noted, and the salve was necessary for her comfort.

Once the treatment had calmed her pain, Horizon decided to pay the resident tailor, Reymiriath, a visit. She hoped that he would consider trading her for some protective garments - and she was in luck. He agreed to take her pearly necklace in exchange for a Crimson Rogue Hood and a pair of Crimson Aviator Gloves, both matching the satchel she'd gotten from her previous patrons.

Feeling better already, she decided to take one last look around in the bazaar, before leaving again, strong and capable as ever.

tumblr_o1zrsv44JN1ufdm5xo1_400.png

As the days past she ended up in the shadow region once again. A clan named the Driftwood Criers had allowed her to stay with them untill the next day. As well as to restock on food. She had felt great being closer to home, being closer to home in the shadow region meant tricks of all kind are awaiting her. That's what she missed, she missed all the tricks and games. Now she thought to her self, "Should I wait to see what trick they hold or should I make a move first?"
She decided, this being their home she would allow them the honor of the first trick. As the day started to pass nothing happened? No tricks or games? What type of clan was this? As it was time for her departure she started to open her wings that wouldn't open? The clan started to come out around her in a circle. "Gwah! You guys got me with Wing Stuck Goo? When did you have time to place this? I thought you guys didn't have a sense of humor, but apparently I was wrong." The leader Ander spoke,
"Of Course we have a sense of humor, we are shadow after all, just we plan ahead and don't allow people to know its coming." Once her wgs were free, she flew off in a laugh. "On to a new adventure!" she thought.

tumblr_o1zrsv44JN1ufdm5xo1_400.png

Horizon's next travels brought her to the Shifting Expanse, where she took up shelter from a storm with a mostly-Mirror clan that called themselves The Tempest Order. Her stay there was brief and largely unpleasant. Few of the members would ever speak with her. The atmosphere was hostile, as if she had stumbled into the middle of an argument. Many of the members looked ravenous, skin stretched taunt over their bones and looks of frustration decorating their faces. The only dragon that spoke with her was quick to advise her to leave as soon as the storm cleared. She did exactly that, hoping that the next clan would be more welcoming than this one.

tumblr_o1zrsv44JN1ufdm5xo1_400.png

Horizon continued on her way, until she came across the path of the Dioskouri Convocation, a clan residing in the Starfall Isles. They welcomed her and gave her a few more items to wear, since it was a bit chilly on the isles due to the proximity of sea water. They also started to train her in combat, though they decided not to do too much since their astrologist, Artemisia, had predicted that she would move on soon. Quickly it became apparent that Horizon was getting itchy feet, feeling the need to move on once again. She packed her items up, said goodbye to the Convocation and was on her way.

tumblr_o1zrsv44JN1ufdm5xo1_400.png

Flying distractedly to her next adventure Horizon bumped into a rogue scientist named Reef.
After an apology from Horizon and sinister glance from Reef he looked her over curiously then offered to take her to his clan.
Accepting his generous offer Horizon followed him to, what would hopefully be, her new home.
Upon arrival she got excited, the clan was small but held many diverse dragons that welcomed her with polite, warm exchanges.
She worked with the queer scientist that had brought her here and earned a meager living delivering his wares.
After some time she gained a fondness towards the cold dragon, Reef. Many had given her strange looks for finding shelter with the peculiar gent. She found herself in love with his odd personality, and eventually he took interest in her.
The two had a clutch of two eggs together, but after they hatched Reef seemed to lose interest. It hapened during a major scientific breakthrough he was experiencing and sadly Horizon was let down when he began to treat her as if she didn't exist.

Months later after the pain of loneliness had passed Horizon could be found on patrols, hunting and doing her best to pass the time. This did nothing to help her and only promoted injuries.
When she finally went to the clan healer she was bandaged up at the wings and told that the wounds were going to take a while to heal and might criple her if not properly cared for. Crushed with gilt and fear Horizon decided that she couldn't stay at this clan any longer, too much pain came from it.
She wanted to stay and care for her hatchlings but the feeling that she was worthless never left her. Knowing she would never be accepted in this clan she snuck out after saying her farewells to her offspring.

tumblr_o1zrsv44JN1ufdm5xo1_400.png

Upon arriving once more to the Tangled Wood, she was found by Nighshade, a scout for the Astéri Calligne Clan. Seeing how she was hurt, Nightshade brought her back, where Horizon had the chance to rest and heal. The Clan healer, Tethys, came to be quite close to her during the treatment, chatting away about all and any subject.
During her stay, Horizon got in contact with several hatclings that made her miss her own very much. Still, it was within the new friendships she forged within the Clan that she realized her former mate had mistreated her, and that she deserved better after all.
After staying there far longer than she felt comfortable with, she set flight once more, hopefully to somewhere she could come to call her home.

tumblr_o1zrsv44JN1ufdm5xo1_400.png

After leaving the Tangled Woods, Horizon flew long and far. When the temperatures started falling drastically, however, Horizon's old injuries flared and pain shot through her wings. She was forced to land and quickly sought out a good place to rest.

She'd arrived at the Southern Icefields and while most of it was dreadfully abandoned and dreary, Horizon had luck on her side, that time. A bustling marketplace laid out in front of her, a number of dragons there with countless stands and wares. At the end of it all laid an Inn and Horizon hoped, perhaps, she could find a way to get a room for the night. Sleeping outside in the Icefields usually spelled death for even the hardest and toughest Ice dragons - a Water dragon like herself wouldn't stand a chance and she knew it.

Horizon headed for the Inn, but the keep refused to let her stay. It was a busy season, they needed paying customers. Not broke 'traders'. Horizon was about to leave when a small group of dragons, sitting around a small fire nearby, spoke up and asked if she'd like to join them. Hungry, tired and cold, Horizon couldn't find the strength to refuse. A spot near the fire sounded incredible.

She spent the night there, talking to the little group of dragons. They were a scouting and merchant group from a clan far further south, she learned, called Valhall. They were there to sell and buy and forge new bonds with new clans.

Horizon knew she'd need to rest up for a few days before continuing on, her wings aching quite badly. But she couldn't afford a room for that long and staying outside seemed dangerous. But she didn't say anything, keeping her mouth shut and deciding to keep things casual.

It was an enjoyable night, actually, and the small group of dragons offered to share their food with her. She appreciated it greatly, glad for the moments of rest. And then an otherwise quiet Pearlcatcher spoke up, her voice soft but clear, and her words caught Horizon completely off guard.

"You need to keep yourself warm, of your injuries will get worse," the Pearlcatcher, that Horizon would soon know as Urd the Soothsayer, "We have a spare pelt we can't sell, if you'd like. It's a little torn on the edge, but you could trade it for your hood."

Not only was it baffling and rather confusing to get such an offer, but Horizon hadn't expected such kindness. She knew pelts were expensive, but she could definitively need the warmth. With a gentle smile, Horizon took the deal. With a warm wolf pelt around her shoulders and her good friend the Pocket Mouse by her side, she felt a little better equipped to deal with the Icefields. The small group from Valhall let her stay with them while she was there and Horizon got the chance to rest properly, let herself heal and get better. Good food, good company and good vibes definitively soothed her soul. She spent some more time talking to Urd, curious about what the Pearlcatcher had to say.

When it was time to leave them all behind, Urd was the last one to speak. The Pearlcatcher looked straight at Horizon and smiled softly, "You've seen pain and loneliness, but you will find a home. Be on the lookout for a tiny fae, she will be important to you. She will be vital to the rest of your journey, friend."

With those words churning in her head, Horizon bid them all farewell and offered them her greatest thanks. With the pelt keeping her warm and her satchel filled with supplies, Horizon took to the skies once more.

tumblr_o1zrsv44JN1ufdm5xo1_400.png
Flying for hours, her wings ached. Making it back into her home flights lands. She , to weak to continue, slowly descended from the air. Landing on the ground with a thud. Her tail fur being covered by water along the banks of a forest. Forest? Since when is there a forest in the tidelords lands. Forest? Since when were forests around the sea of currents. After her final question she passed out from the exhaustion.

Waking up with a start, flailing her wings, almost crushing her poor pocket mouse. She tumbles out of the cave and into the massive burrow like place. A very red and witch-doctor looking skydancer, adorned in a birdskull headdress with only her red eyes showing, approached. This must be the healer horizon though. “Hello, thank you for healing me” horizon said, trying to not sound scared. The skydancer scoffed and spoke in a way that made her seem ancient in age.

“Twas not i who healed you, no that was the work of the healers. I am the witch-doctor Niorra, and you my dear, are very lucky. For I predict when a dragon will die, how their life will pan out. The healers though it hopeless to try and care you back to health, being as your Health was so poor. But I persuaded them to, I saw greatness in your travels, in your future. A mighty dragon worth saving. Do not let me regret my prediction.” Niorra said and walked into the hut from which Horizon had just emerged.

Horizon shivered walking away, thanked the healer and went on about her travels to a new place. Taking the witch-doctors words to heart, engraving them to her memory so she may never forget those words.

After spending a good amount of time in Rosesinity Burrow. Horizon felt it was time to continue on her travels. So as a parting gift. Niorra gave her a stonekeeper emblem. To represent her down to earth spirit, but also her strengths.
tumblr_o1zrsv44JN1ufdm5xo1_400.png
After departing from the previous clan she had stopped at, Horizon made the slow and tiring journey over to the Shifting Expanse. The stormy sky above her roared with fury, sending bolts of lightning to the ground beneath.

Aware of the dangers of these storms, Horizon flew quickly, the Glowing Pocket Mouse nervously wriggling around in her crimson red satchel. She knew shelter was nearby, as she saw a silver-scaled Guardian flying past just a few minutes earlier. Part of her admired this large, fearsome dragon; not many would dare to even venture outside in this dismal weather that seemed to last for many ages. The Pearlcatcher looked around once more, noticing a small group of dragons nestled on a cliff face, most likely huddling together for protection against the cold raindrops that constantly fell down on them, splashing as they hit the sleek, stone floor.

A sudden wave of sheer determination flowing through her, Horizon used the last of her energy to fly up to the top of the cliff and land there. The three dragons she had seen there, a blue and purple Mirror, a green patterned Wildclaw and a dark-scaled Skydancer all lifted their heads to look at her, as if they were wondering why she was flying in a storm like this. They didn't have much to say; they were also outside in this weather.

"The name's Horizon," Horizon muttered, looking the trio in the eye, "I've come here in search of shelter." The Mirror got to her feet and took a few steps towards her.
"Another traveller?" she said, watching her cautiously, "We've had a few come and go in the past couple of days. I've got no clue why they'd dare to travel, I mean, there's been multiple dangerous, maybe even deadly storms recently. Anyways, my name is Oceanic, the Skydancer's Sleet and that Wildclaw beside us is Sage." Oceanic flicked her tail, signalling for her to follow. She tucked her wings against her body, being sure to cover the bag that her familiar was in. After a few minutes, the Pearlcatcher found herself in a relatively large room, after being led into a network of caves. It seemed to be laced with the remains of broken-down nests, such as dried grass and twigs.
"You can rest here," the Mirror sighed, walking out of the cave as soon as she had entered. Exhausted, Horizon lay down on the old materials. In any other situation, she would've refused, but she was so tired that she didn't care how comfortable it was. It wasn't long until the Pearlcatcher drifted into a deep sleep.

Horizon woke up just as the first rays of sunlight shone into the network of caves. She got to her feet and rushed outside, her Pocket Mouse following closely behind her. The Pearlcatcher lifted the small familiar into her satchel, carefully making sure it's tail and whiskers weren't trapped. After saying goodbye to some of the dragons she has met, Horizon gathered a few plants in her bag, spread her wings and rose into the cool, morning air.
tumblr_o1zrsv44JN1ufdm5xo1_400.png

Somewhere along her travels Horizon made the acquaintance of another traveler, who went by the name Dawnsun. It wasn't long before the two of them found themselves wandering the Starwood Strand in the Starfall Isles. At night the trees twinkled like the stars, and the two found themselves pausing as if hypnotized by the sight. They found that they were frozen and unable to move.

Just as it seemed that the darkness would creep up on Horizon and Dawnsun, a voice called out to them from the shadows. They found themselves face to face with a red hooded nocturne. She introduced herself as Indra and quickly ushered the two of them to the Sleepy Hollow Clan. Indra herself was a healer, and was more than happy to show Horizon how to grind up certain herbs to create a salve that would numb the pain of injuries long past. It seemed the elderly dragon seemed to suffer as well from past injuries, as she often could be seen using the salve on her joints.

Horizon enjoyed her time with the elderly dragon as well as Dawnsun, but the travel bug bit her quicker than it did the others. Late one night while everyone was sleeping Horizon made her way out, seeking her next adventure.

tumblr_o1zrsv44JN1ufdm5xo1_400.png

After flying again for quite some time, Horizon felt her wings tiring more and more, the well known pain becoming more intense with every wing beat. She then finally reached the Windswept Plateau and the gentile winds there kind of supported her in the air, making it much easier to go on. It was time to get some rest.

Horizon was just passing by the Twisting Crescendo when she encountered Yongrui, the light Ambassador from Clan Àidhear, who was just returning home from a visit in the Sunbeam Ruins. The fellow Pearlcatcher invited the tired traveler to come over to visit his place and to get some rest. Her new friend also promised to prepare a phenomenal meal. Yongrui just couldn't stop to rave of the food they would be eating at his place and Horizon was so tempted, she just accepted his invitation.

Horizon checked in at the clan's Inn before joining Yongrui for their little baking session. Pretty soon they were getting familiar with each other, exchanging travelogues and experiences they had staying with other clans. They had a very pleasing time together and during the following days the two Pearlcatchers spent many hours talking and exploring the whole clan and its members.

After some relaxing weeks later, Horizon said her goodbys and went on with her travels, thinking about returning home for once...
