THE PROTÉGÉ
Salomé has rigorously devoted her life to the study of defense
and healing magics ever since she was a hatchling. Among the many mages that reside in the clan, she is the first, and arguably, the most powerful of them all. Her casts are clever, her mind cunning, and reflexes sharp. She is a combat mage, and spends a great deal of her days fighting alongside Éowyn and Cadoc, or protecting the clan from intruders.

Few are close to the mage besides her comrades in battle. One of the only other dragons she is friendly with is an elderly Skydancer named Kreeth; another healing mage within the clan. Kreeth is Salomé's mentor, and is responsible for a majority of her knowledge in healing. Kreeth has also taught her how to tame, cultivate, and nurture her powers; teaching her to perfect her craft. Because of this, her magical ability is immensely mature and stable, despite being rather young.

Salomé was brought to the Oasis clan as a hatchling
when Éowyn found her lying unconscious in the desert some hundred miles north of the border between Dragonhome and the Tangled Wood. The clan was still very young when Éowyn took in Salomé. At the time, one could barely refer to them as a clan, but rather, a ragtag family unit, with Éowyn's own children still hatchlings themselves. To this day, she remains one of the clan's oldest members,
though not by any means the oldest dragon.

Why a shadow native wound up so far north in Dragonhome is something of a mystery to most of the dragons in the clan- which is something that can be attributed to the fact that many find her presence to be quite unnerving. Putting a grin on the Pearlcatcher's face is nearly impossible- In fact, many have never seen her smile, or heard her laugh. As far as anyone knows, she is only capable of retaining a straight, almost dreary expression as unmoving as the heartbeat of a stillborn hatchling. Even if this were not so, her intricate headdress of bone, feather, and bead hide whatever expression there is to be seen.

"You're a mage, aren't you?"

It was the first thing the elderly Skydancer had ever heard the young Pearlcatcher say,
save for the occasional greeting.

"Rubbish," the Skydancer replied with quavering indifference, despite her astonishment at hearing
the young one address her personally.

"...You carry a mage's staff" the Pearlcatcher insisted, her claws anxiously pressing into the
soft mosses that blanketed the ground.

"It's my walking stick," retorted the Skydancer, turning her back on the maiden pearlcatcher.

"A mere walking stick does not emit such raw magical energy,"

The Skydancer paused at this, turning once more to face the juvenille.

"...how keen,"
