Trapped in a cursed amulet known as the Millennium Puzzle for three thousand years, Yami Yugi was finally released when Yugi Mutou solved the puzzle five years ago. Since his release, he has made quite the impression in this small clan, quickly becoming fast friends with Atem, Seto, Ryou, Mokuba and even finding his soulmate in the gentle Yugi Mutou. Yami is more reserved and less forgiving than Yugi, often referring to him as his hikari, or light. He gets along well with most of the clan, and a notable relationship includes his rivalry with the proud Seto Kaiba (Kaiba has yet to beat him in their favourie game, Duel Monsters). Despite being a light dragon, Yami came into this world with the ability to wield immense shadow magics, though he only uses them to protect Yugi.
