Biography

guardian___shaniae__2__by_stormjumper19-da7ezi1.png

Izluna lost her Charge long ago. She found it at a young age: a piece of Dragonhome, a cave with gems and ore veins and the most beautiful oasis in the cracked, dry Earth land. It was the best place in all of Sornieth, rich and wild and hers. It was paradise, and it was only a matter of time before something bad happened to it.

There had been visitors before, but only dragons who Izluna deemed safe. She was well aware that A single untrustworthy dragon could easily destroy it all. and she was right: ultimately, the destruction of her Charge was the fault of a single dragon, someone who looked at paradise and wanted to harvest its riches. Izluna fought as hard as she could, and at one point even thought she had won. But she had underestimated her opponent: he was more willing to destroy the place than to leave it be, and he made a deal with the Shade to turn the oasis barren. Izluna couldn't do a thing against it.

She mourned her Charge, as any Guardian would, but she wandered, too. The oasis was nothing more than a crater in the ground, now, and nothing kept her there. For years, she lived in a perpetual haze, never quite seeing what was in front of her, always wondering what she might have done better. Eventually, she found herself in Light: her birth element, though she had no memory of it. A clan there took her in, and she learned of the existence of paladins who fought the Shade, and she realized: this was how she could have protected her Charge. Perhaps she couldn't turn back time, but she could protect others in the same situation. With renewed determination, Izluna threw herself into her new purpose. She had failed her Charge, but she would not fail the world.

For a very long time, she traveled the world as a paladin, destroying what pieces of the Shade she could find, stopping evil magics in their tracks, even helping to challenge Emperors when they appeared. She trained others, teaching them the skills she had learned in that Light clan so long ago. And, eventually, she retired. The world had plenty of younger, stronger paladins; she could rest at long last.

She adopted a young Nocturne she found on her travels, and she finally began to live a peaceful life.
