Having arrived at the clan barely a few hours after hatching, Avriel took a shine to the introverted Tranquility, much to the older dragon's dismay, and started tailing him around ceaselessly. He claims that it was because Tranquility was the one who comforted him- albeit gruffly and possibly more to silence his cries than out of pure goodwill- when he was upset after leaving his family, although the older dragons vehemently insists he did nothing of the sort. Although once Tranquility managed to pry the hatchling off him long enough to register the rest of the clan, the young Avriel had always kept a wide berth from Aevitas, scared of the silent and scarred Patriarch. Like his mother, he loves to sing- although unlike his mother, Avi actually has a decent voice, and so became the Loresinger, raising his voice to honour the dragon gods with tales of the past. When he was younger, it was much to Tranquility's relief that he could occasionally be torn away from the irritated imperial to sing with Nocturne. Despite being gifted in music, he cannot be considered an artist like his father, although Iocane has attempted to teach him several times. This is a fact that, although he'd rather be struck by lightning than admit it, he is mortified by. Secretly, he strives to make his parents proud, although sometimes he is besieged by momentary periods of grief and homesickness. Although he's still seen as 'the little tailer' by Tranquility and Aevitas, he's one of the older dragons of the clan, having seen several generations of various dragons come and go. Because of this, he's at the stage where every dragon believes that they know best. However, still relatively inexperienced, he knows that he has yet a lot to learn and tries to remain humble. He's an easy-going dragon that is more than happy to go out of his way to cheer up someone's day. After learning how to write, he began to send letters to his family: Sketch, Fable and his brother Ocellus. Although he eventually fell out of contact with his parents when his father left to serve the gods, he recently began to exchange letters with his brother again, much to each other's delight. Despite his reluctance to fight, he has never been seen without the battered set of iron tail cuffs his mother gave him once when she heard of his adventures in the Coliseum. He has also recently taken to wearing a ring that his brother sent him. |
