Alasdair

Alasdair is often seen as passive and malleable. The one thing that he will not change is his ethics. He has strong morals that can withstand the worst of pleading, cajoling, and temptation.

Alasdair is wise enough to know that there is much he doesn’t know. He’ll participate in intellectual discussions, to a point. But he backs out the instant he begins to feel he is out of his depth. He simply lacks the confidence to proceed when not completely sure of his knowledge. He is much more sure of himself in the air. His physical prowess is something of note, and takes particular pride in his flying.

Alasdair has put his physical strength to good use. In adolescence, he began living as a sort of wandering adventurer. The sheer joy of travelling was part of the fun, feeling the wind beneath his wings. He also got to help many dragons, usually by guarding them, or protecting them from roving beasts. Adventuring allowed Alasdair to do good in the world by relying on his courage and fortitude, rather than complex mental plots.

He was recently wed to Gwenora, favorite for the next clan matriarch. Gwenora is far more impressive and suited for leadership than Alasdair sees himself to be, so he is happy to let her take the reins. Balthazar is teaching him codes of chivalry, which align well with his morals. But Balthazar is also imposing a sort of order, providing his pupil with a more stable foundation. Slowly, Alasdair is transforming from a simple friendly wanderer into a stalwart noble knight.
