""There are poisons in this world even I cannot create.""
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

As slick as the poison she deals with, Venenum is a dragon no member in the clan wants to upset. Not because she's cruel or evil, but because her tricks can get a little deadly. Thankfully, most of her pranks tend to befall those that have been proven to be enemies of the clan. Her cheerful mood only tells of a prank that went over without a problem, meaning that she wasn't caught and whoever she chose to be her scapegoat was. This doesn't make her a bad dragon, she's just cunning. In fact, her whole attitude is a playful one, filled with joy. The clan has never seen her without a smile, even when something horrible has occurred. She just can't bring herself to frown for long, after all, someone can always pay if they did something to hurt one of the members of Reborn.

Some say she's gone insane. That isn't too far off, Venenum isn't quite on the same page as everyone, she's usually a few chapters ahead. Her time spent chuckling over her beakers of poison and her soon-to-be new concoctions is enough to tell any dragon that she's not quite there, in the sense that they are. Oh, but she's very aware. She aware of everything around her, everything that has happened. Noting escapes her. If there is some gossip going around, she's one of the ones to spread it. Keeping secrets is not something she's good at, unless they are about herself. When asked about her past, her smile grows a little dimmer and her tongue flicks out a little too much. While no one has seen her actually angry, they feel asking about where she comes from is pushing their luck. No one wants to end up with some poison in their cup that puts them to sleep for a month, there's a lot that can happen during that time.

Despite her oddities, Venenum takes special interest in the dragons of Reborn. She says it is because they are all so interesting, but no one can say for sure. When she says that, she gets a wicked smile on her face. This strange occurrence doesn't seem to worry anyone, however, even though it is a little strange. Why a dragon with such skill with poison as she has would be in the land of Fire, and not working for a clan of assassins in Shadow or Ice is unknown, but Venenum says every day that is happier than a starving Coatl in a pile of seafood. She loves her new life! And the best part is, no one sends her on jobs to teach a lesson to other clans.

Her past is locked away from all those in Reborn. No one knows about her, not even a possible future mate or lover. She can't bare the thought of them knowing, of the clan finding out about who she is or what she's done. Her genes are, after all, an accident. An accident that marked her as a professional with poison and toxins that could make even a god or goddess collapse from pain. When asked about her past, where she came from, she retreats deep into her memories, praying someone will drag her out. That someone would save her from the memories that cause her to lose sleep every night, the memories that tell of the events that made her into who she was. The accident, the selling, the clan... the deeds. All the things she has done, the things that dirty her soul, come rushing back without mercy. The pain is almost enough to make her want to jump in her own pot of poison, but it wouldn't affect her in any way. It never did.

Her birth clan was kind and gentle. Such a loving family! She grew up with her mother and father, until she was almost old enough to start using magic. Then the accident happened. She followed her parents to Bawldin's Brew one day. As the next in line of the brewing family, she would have to learn the ropes. Sadly, Venenum never got her chance. While watching the master work with the brew, a familiar from a waiting dragon escaped, scared that its life would be ended when, instead, only a piece of fur would have been taken. It knocked the pot over and Venenum was in the way. The brew fell over her, scorching almost all her feathers off, third degree burns coating her body. Baldwin rushed her back to her parents, where she was treated. Medicine crafted from the master was given to her, but he kept saying over and over she would never be the same. He was right. She didn't have the shimmer coat and wings of her parents when she healed. Her colors were altered, skewed beyond repair. Her feathers were the same. The only thing untouched was her belly, but her parents were disgusted. They put her up for auction.

Venenum was bought by a wandering clan, also Shadow dragons. They took in her, loved her, cared for her, told her stories, then they taught her the trade. Poison. “Think of it like juice,” said her teacher, a Skydancer that had the same off-color effect she herself had. Another victim of a toxic brew? Or someone who did it to themselves on purpose? “You give the juice to the target, err, friend, and then you leave.” Simple instructions. Something a young dragon would believe. Venenum did as told by her teacher and the other clan members, making her way up in the ranks. It was only when she stayed behind one day to see what the “juice” did was she horrified, horrified that death was a wish the inflicted dragon had, and something the poison would prevent for hours. The lies she had been told were easy for a heartbroken child to believe. She was mortified with herself. Quickly, she fled, and found Reborn. She set up shop when she was welcomed and made poison that didn't kill, but instead played harmless pranks. Her way of doing what she was raised to do without harming anyone. Some of her poison could even be considered medicine. Insomnia touched dragons are sometimes blessed when she targets them, or dragons with a horrible infestation of Gembond. With her skills, she targets what the dragon in question thinks is a problem, and she fixes it in the form of a prank. Venenum says to herself she's not evil. She grew up being lied to. But still, she can't shake the sins from her back.
