Biography
"An inn is no place for children to grow up. There's no space here; we want you to find a new, happy home where you can have all the space you need."
That's what they told you when you asked why you needed to leave, so soon after hatching. You wanted to get to know your parents better, those two whose warmth had brought you life. The world was so scary and new; you couldn't believe how okay your siblings were with this. Your brother had become instantly obsessed with movies as soon as he saw one and only wanted to make his own, and your sister had been enticed by stories of a land of ice and snow.
Not even a full day had passed before you were passed off into the care of a pair of nocturnes who lead all three of you away. The male just could not stop himself from telling you all all about the glory of the Shadowbinder; he made it very tough to get a word in edgewise, and when he did quiet just long enough for you to voice a complaint, his mate shushed you.
They brought you to a meeting point, a place full of dragons talking, bargaining, coming, and going. It overwhelmed your young senses, and you barely had time to take it all in before your brother was gone, swapped away. You began to cry. You wailed. In no time, both the nocturnes were upon you, quieting and shushing you. "Cheer up, little one!" said the male nocturne, who you doubted even knew your name. "You're doing a service to the inn, helping to bring in the business that keeps everyone fed and clothed, and you can always come back when you're older. Who knows, if you're lucky, you could even end up permanently living in a lair blessed by Shadowbinder."
His words did not help. You continued wailing even as they found someone to take you, and you were sent away.
