~Life as a Guard~
Drunder lived an average childhood, and, wanting to spice up his life, he trained as a Prison Guard. Training was easy enough for him; his pure brute strength (even then) could subdue even some of the veteran Guards. He quickly became a key player in maintaining the so called "peace" among the prisoners. Ten years into the job, and he was now the head of the Guard team. Every officer under his command was just as sharp and tough as he had been when he started; And most of them held him in high esteem. Most. A young Tundra by the name of Shronax had been keeping a score of every time he'd been reprimanded, and had plotted an uprising with some of the inmates. During the Lunch session in the mess hall, Shronax gave the signal, and the worst fight since Drunders Promotion took place. Half the hall was down each other throats, and while Drunder tried to break it all up, Shronax struck him. The two fought for what felt like hours before the other Guard could pull Shronax away, and by that time Drunder was a bloody mess. Recovery from his injuries was less then pleasant, and in the process he tore his left shoulder. He could still fly, but his range of motion became limited. He was forced to appoint a new Leader, and leave the Guard.
~Aeronite's Request~
Having no job, and no other skill sets, Drunder debated going home. His parents, grandparents...and well...His whole Family would find him to be a disgrace; forced out of work due to injury. So, instead he wandered. No direction, no thought, and not even really caring where he ended up. And a Shadow Flew overhead. The shadow gained form, landing in front of him to reveal a younger Male Guardian. Drunder sat, Observing him as the younger did the same. Asking for his name, the young Male stood once more and came closer. Drunder simply scoffed and walked away, deciding that this kid was of no interest to him. Having gotten miffed at being blown off, the other Jumped around to be in front of Drunder again. "Listen. My Name is Aeronite. I see those scars on your body, and I know what it looks like when a Dragon has nowhere to go. I've got a clan, our borders are just north of here. You don't have to stay, but you can spend a few nights to recharge yourself. And Don't tell me you don't need it." So, after some pestering and a whole lot of reluctance, Drunder Followed Aeronite into the Northern Territory known as "The Tangled Wood". A few days of rest turned into a couple of weeks, and the growing clan around him was getting antsy. It wasn't long before Aeronite began to make a habit of lingering around him; being sure to observe his activities with the clan. And soon, It was decided. Aeronite approached Drunder during the evening meal. "Drunder. You've been here quite some time now, and I've seen you with the others. They like you, they want you to stay. And I have a job in mind for you; we'll put your Guard skills to use. The hatchlings here need to go out and explore to grow, and with someone with your skills watching them, I know they'll be safe. I won't force you, but my offer stands until midnight tomorrow." Drunder thought long and hard, and no matter how he sliced it, Aeronite was giving him a very good offer. So, He took it; Drunder accepted Aeronite's Request.
~A Living Charge~
Out on a Patrol, Drunder saw Aeronite and Noni coming back with an Adolescent Skydancer in tow. At Dinner, this young Male was introduced to the clan as Ragnonis, but the boys' title as a war veteran was more than troubling. Upon mention of that fact from Noni, Ragnonis went into an uncontrolled frenzy. It was put to a quick stop, as Drunder spun around and smacked him against to cave walls with his tail, knocking him out. A clan meeting was called shortly after; Ragnonis placed in the middle of the clans' council. Many were concerned about letting the young male stay, given the display they'd just seen. "Let me talk to the kid, Aero. You may have your own war experiences, but I know how to get information from a traumatized kid. Time is all I'm asking." So, Ragnonis was placed in Drunder's care for the time being, under the knowledge that should the same scene occur, he could handle it. When Morning came, He took the young male outside of the clan boarders to question him without risk of damage to clan properties. Soon though, Their conversation shifted from that of an interrogation into a moment of bonding. The two continued talking even as they returned to the caves, and with one look at them, Aeronite Knew. "Drunder, you grumpy old man....you've found your charge...." And it only took him a week to admit it, but when he did, The Guardians of the Clan rallied and celebrated for him. Owners Notes! Quote:
