Despite her unconventional appearance, Marionette is a warm and friendly Wildclaw quite well-liked by her clan. She’s a particular favorite among the hatchlings. There’s a reason for that, of course. Marionette is a natural storyteller, and is always willing to entertain the younger dragons with tales of faraway lands, brave warriors, and other fantastic tales. She knows the value of suspense, and also knows exactly how to keep her audience invested. Not so coincidentally, Marionette is also a big fan of ending her stories in cliffhangers. Although her repertoire is vast, there’s one theme that Marionette always finds herself returning to. The princess, cursed to sleep forever, awoken by her true love’s kiss. She doesn’t quite know where she heard this story, but it seems to be ingrained deep in her mind as though it might be a memory. This is so far from the truth that she almost wants to laugh. There was no prince to kiss her awake; only her creator, Wraith. She remembers nothing before waking up in his workshop, surrounded by bleached bones, rune stones, and the other tools of his trade. She doesn’t know who she was, or what she did, only who she is now. Marionette was born into the world, cold and empty – something halfway between life and death. Her lack of memories and need to build her own identity outside of what Wraith determined for her left their relationship somewhat strained. She feels indebted to him, and is certainly glad to be alive. But she also can’t help but wonder who, or what, she was before. It also doesn’t help that the clan likes her better than Wraith. He’s her creator, and her mate, but does he truly control her? When she isn’t trying to figure out the answers to these sort of questions, Marionette offers her time as an archivist for the clan. She enjoys her quiet time, sorting through scrolls and papers and organizing them. The soft shuffle of paper and ink is a calming sound that takes her mind away from the darker moments of her life. |
