A stern old warrior who serves as a mentor and fatherly figure for many dragons in the Blackmoon Clan. Zazu'ulbi is the second-oldest dragon in the clan next to Kaiyo Vulturehead.

Originally from the Blacksand Annex, Zazu'ulbi is a true Fire dragon at heart - and physically, too. His body is entirely flameproof, and he can resist far hotter temperatures than dragons of other elements.

As Warden, Zazu'ulbi patrols the above-ground territory of the Blackmoon Clan. If he detects any danger he alerts Gatekeeper Raavyn by calling her trick-of-the-light familiar, who also patrols the forests; Raavyn goes on to alert the Overseer Sombre, who decides what to do from there.

As one of the three leaders of the Vanquishers (Blackmoon's war faction), Zazu'ulbi assists in leading the clan in times of battle. During these times he is called the Warchief by his clanmates.



In the Revolution of the Blackmoon Clan, Zazu'ulbi had originally stood on the side of Roujia and Jaxon - but he had been lied to about many things, and he discovered this over the course of the Revolution, as the words of the rebels slowly penetrated his ears, then his brain, then his heart. By the end of the it all Zazu'ulbi had pledged his allegiance to the new and uprising Blackmoon Clan.
He grew distasteful of the founders, though he never came to hate them like the rest of the clan; even now, he still has respect for them on some level. But there is one dragon who Zazu'ulbi hates above all others: the malevolent Shade cultist Salem Farstar. While Salem still resides in the clan, claiming to have changed her ways, Zazu'ulbi will never learn to trust her. And rightfully so, as Salem will soon come to prove her malevolence to the Blackmoon Clan one last time.

Progenitor Jaxon was once Zazu'ulbi's closest friend, and Zazu'ulbi his loyal follower; but times have changed, and Zazu has moved on. His current closest friends are Avedha and Dammith. They can often be found drinking together when Zazu isn't on patrol.

Zazu'ulbi has had a friendly rivalry with the warrior Avedha for many centuries now. He challenges her to a duel whenever he gets the chance in an attempt to impress her by coming out on top. Of course, he's been defeated every time so far, but Avedha cannot deny that his attempts are pretty impressive -- it takes a lot of courage for a dragon to ask for a duel with the clan's best warrior, especially when defeated time after time.

One other dragon that Zazu is not fond of is a guardian named Skasin Duskbeard. Skasin - or as Zazu'ulbi calls him, The Coward - supported Roujia and Jaxon during the Revolution, but fled as soon as he realized that his side had lost. As one of the clan's primary leaders in times of war, Zazu'ulbi believes that in a lost battle one should either submit to the winning side or submit to death along with the rest of the losers. Skasin was once a distant (yet irritating) memory, but now that he has returned to Blackmoon, Zazu'ulbi has remembered his distaste for the dragon. It is obvious that he still harbors some hate for the cowardly fool.
