BIOGRAPHY
As time went on and the dragon matured, Jaye began to feel an aching loneliness that could not be satiated by the friendly beasts that occasionally came to the shore to drink. He began to wander further and further each day from the water's edge in search of a dragon clan that could take him in. Most of the dragons he came in contact with were immediately deterred by the shape of his body and cast him away in disgust. Little did he know, he was being followed. In fact, he was being tracked. Hunted. One evening on his way home from his day's travels, the ground began to move beneath his talons and he lost his balance, sending his pearl rolling away across the rocky red sand. He scrambled to his feet in an attempt to chase after it, but he found himself bound by a Shattered Serpent that had erupted from the ground to capture him. He struggled violently, but it only exhausted him rather than loosen the Serpent's grip. He felt that these were his last moments, destined to end up like the rest of his family, when suddenly a flash of white streaked by and sent the Serpent reeling back into its hole. Upon opening his eyes, Jaye saw that his savior was a young, white Skydancer nearly the same age as he was. He chirped excitedly and nuzzled the dragon in thanks before bounding off to grab his pearl. "It is so great to meet you! My name is Jaye!" he piped, nearly bursting at the seams with excitement. "Alexander," the new dragon responded in a rather unemotional voice, shifting back and forth every few seconds to wipe off the bottoms of his feet. "I sensed you were in danger." After overcoming his initial awe, excitement, and curiosity, Jaye explained his situation to his newfound friend, quickly learning in return that Alexander was also alone. From that moment onwards, the pair stuck together through thick and thin as they searched for the perfect home. Over time, the pair of dragons searched the entire expanse of the Scarred Wasteland, save for the Wyrmwound. Only one peculiar clan of misfits offered to take them in: The Z'Arduani. Once they were settled in and allowed to explore things other than surviving, Jaye slowly began to understand emotions and social interactions. He found that his emotions tied him strongly to Alexander in ways that he had never previously experienced, despite that the two had always been co-dependent. Eventually Jaye realized that this feeling that fogged his mind in Alexander's presence was called love. The two became mates, and for the first time in his life, Jaye felt as if he had finally discovered a true family. His second passion, rock collecting, was discovered not much later. He was on a routine gathering trip in the Arcane region when that familiar pull of discovery led him beyond the Strand and into a small cave. Within its depths he found countless shimmering jewels, glowing dimly in the darkness. His heart fluttered in awe and excitement, similarly to the way he had felt when he first laid eyes on Alexander. Quickly he returned home and discussed his discovery with the clan leader. She saw potential profit in Jaye's discover and provided him with the proper tools to harvest these jewels. From there, his collection began. Years passed, dragons aged, the clan evolved, and Jaye's collection grew ever-larger. Rebellion had risen up from the roots of the Z'Arduani, targeting the clan's tyrannical, militant leader. At the head of this rebellion was the matriarch's closest adviser: Alexander. After all, he did always have a bit too much empathy for underdogs. The mutiny was successful, and in the end Alexander was elected as the new leader of the Z'Arduani. But what did that all mean for Jaye? Now that Alexander was a figurehead, coordinator, head of business and expansion, and countless other titles related to keeping the clan running smoothly, upholding his mateship seemed to be at the back of his mind. At least, that's how it seemed to Jaye. Each time that Jaye tried to show off a new piece of his collection or discuss afternoon happenings with his mate, he would be blown off with the excuse of "I have some official business to attend." Jaye eventually assumed that the reason Alexander avoided him was because the Skydancer could feel how hurt he was, but could no longer do anything to mend the fissure that had formed between them. Distance led to infidelity, which went on unspoken for years. The young Pearlcatcher grew old, his love grew stale, and his patience ran dry. As he was sitting in his den polishing crystals one morning, he came to the slow realization that his love for collecting now outweighed his love for his mate. His heart was heavy, but he knew how to lift it up again. Jaye left the Z'Arduani, his home of countless years, and began walking. He was unsure of where he was headed, but his heart pulled him onward. Often the drake would have to stop due to his lung deformity, sometimes struggling to breath so much so that he wondered if leaving the safety of his clan was even worth it. But as he drew closer to what he knew was his final destination, his feet felt lighter and his smile grew wider. The spark of hope kindled into a hefty flame. The Shattered Plain of Dragonhome was nearly as intimidating as the Abiding Boneyard, and almost stole Jaye's final breath right out of him. But as the terrain rose over him, breaking the seemingly endless stretch of flat nothingness, Jaye found the home that he had truly yearned for all of his life: The Cairnstone Rest. Among the excavated tombs and mined caves, Jaye found a misfit clan that welcomed him readily into its ranks. They offered him food, water, and a place to rest. After regaining his strength, he told them of his travels and his search for a new place to expand his collection. At the mention of mineral collecting the clan lit up, humming with chatter and excitement. That long-missing flutter of passion rattled Jaye's heart back to life, and he knew that this would remain his forever home.
