B I O G R A P H Y

Born in the very edges of the Carrion Canyon, Lati was close enough to the Lightweaver's domain that he regularly traveled for remedies or ingredients found in there. During one of his visits, he met Luvat, a cheerful fae who regularly provided him ingredients only found in the Light region and he struck up a fast friendship with the fae. They may not share body language but Luvat was always direct to the point and he was surprisingly funny even with a deadpan tone.

Lati and the scientists of the Carrion Canyon with whom he lived with regularly experimented new techniques in medicine, specifically apparatus to restore lost body limbs because of battle and work-related accidents. He himself suffered a modification to his wings to remain able to fly, as he became trapped under machinery when he was trying to rescue a dragon injured beneath it a few years ago.

He was content to develop experimental prothesis when his colleagues started getting twitchy. They were hiding something but he was unable to find out for a long time, as they zealously guarded their investigation. In the end, they were using arcane and nature energies to replicate a fully functional limb. Not something made of metal, but made of flesh and completely regrow it on the subject.
Unfortunately, their attempts ended harming and even killing sometimes the dragons they experimented, unbeknowst to Lati, he himself being one of the very few successful attempts and once their council found out, he too was exiled along the scientists.

B I O G R A P H Y

With nowhere to go, he resorted to his old friend in the light realm, and caught Luvat just as he was about to undertake a very long hunting trip. He knew the fae was an incredibly proficient hunter, reason why he came to buy the ingredients from him in first place but since he was both curious about his prowess and lost as to what he'd do next, he accompanied him in his hunt.

Truth to be told, it had been many years since he had performed basic medicine as he focused on his specific research but during those months he improvised and bit by bit remembered everything he had learned, from curing a simple cold to handling life threatening emergencies on the spot to help dragons they came across while in peril.

It was many months until they returned to Luvat's home, during which time Lati took upon himself to learn his friend's body language. During that second trip, he learnt more about his fae companion, sometimes helping him craft metal containers and also selling his services as a doctor to earn income himself.

Upon returning to Luvat's home, Lati did not get much time to enjoy his quiet time as his former colleagues had lost his track when he had gone hunting and selling with Luvat, finally tracking him again now that they had returned to the fae's home.

They had come with an invitation to talk, for old times sake and though Lati was suspicious, they did not resemble the wary, twitchy dragons he had kept an eye on for all those years and he agreed. It had started amicably enough, but as the evening passed by, he saw them growing restless, glancing at their cups and at him. He hadn't drank any of the liquor inside, as he had completely forgotten about it while talking and laughing with his old colleagues.

Suddenly, he was attacked, managing to escape narrowly from them by miracle. It became clear as they pursued and cornered him dozens of times during his sprint that they had kept their experiments on course clandestinely, but Lati had been the only to survive after all this time, even outlasting the ones still alive when they had been exiled. Lati felt he could cry when he discovered he was experimented on, barely overcoming the disgust he felt for his wings to escape.

As he managed to escape, and immediately went to find Luvat, apologizing but explaining his situation, hoping his friend would understand his unexpected departure. What he hadn't expected was the Fae packing up what little he had of personal belongings and going with him, and said he knew just what place they might be safe, Sei's clan.

Today, Lati acts as the official doctor for the whole clan and also offers his services to any traveling dragon they encounter. Given the nature of their rescues, he is the second on the scene whenever someone is pursued into the clan's grounds. He is always respectful, and if he needs to do more than a couple of stitches, he will explain in detail what he is going to do and what the dragon could feel afterwards, still disgusted at the experiments performed on himself after all this time.
