Found wandering in the abandoned ruins of Clan Sunpine, Howlite was taken in by a Goldenflight gathering envoy. The clan was near enough to the lair that they had actually exchanged trade recently, so it was surprising to say the least to see the single dragon wandering alone among the ruins. They hadn't been allied long enough to now the deep history of the clan but it was obvious that whatever had occurred there was extremely tragic. As a last favor to their once trade ally, Goldenflight took him in without question.
Howlite hasn't said a word since they found him that day. Unlike with Dane who mainly communicates in grunts and yips but you can still tell what he's thinking, Howlite doesn't make a sound. He's as silent as his stare. The only dragon who might know what happened to the existence of an entire clan and he doesn't speak a word. Whenever he's in a room, dragons become visibly uncomfortable with his expressionless presence.
Elberea is the only dragon who interacts with him normally, even conversing with him despite the fact that he never answers back. In a way, she understands his situation better than anyone else because ice dragons are often seen as "emotionless" or "distant" due to their naturally frigid nature. She senses much anguish and despair embodied within him and wonders about what kind of tragedy could have turned him completely mute, but she doesn't press him about it. When he is ready to share his pain, if he ever is, she will listen.
