Biography
BloodWorm subspecies
Named for their long, worm like bodies and taste for blood and flesh, these nocturnal dragons live in maze like burrows underneath the Scarred Wasteland. BloodWorms live in groups ranging for 20 to 100, and the more there are, the worse the threat. Because they spend so much of their lives underground, they have a lack of pigmentation in their scales, making them look extremely pale and they find sunlight extremely harsh on their eyes and skin, causing serious damage such as blindness in the eyes and burns, blisters and boils on the skin. If a BloodWorm stays out in the sun too long, the sun damage will eventually end up killing them. Because of this disadvantage of theirs, they have to go out to hunt at nighttime or early hours of the morning so that they do not get sun damaged. As suggested by the name, BloodWorms feast on the blood, but also the flesh, of animals, even other dragons if they have their guard down and aren’t suspecting to be attacked. They hunt in packs varying between 8 and 25 depending on the size of the group. Before BloodWorms are truly accepted into their Clan, they must hunt and successfully kill a dragon by themselves, then smear the blood of the victims onto their body in certain patterns. A Clan Elder would then perform a bonding ritual so that the blood would be imprinted on the skin and could never be removed.
If a BloodWorm fails to kill a dragon first time, they will be exiled out of the clan and if they don’t find shelter quick enough then would eventually die in the harsh sun.
