Her parents are Muit And Moros of the White city, who circle and pray and circle and See. They cover their eyes and stream with holy oil and smell of sweet musk and damp fur, and the oil streams from their eyes and noses and gums and ears and hangs in resinous drops from their horns. Their children share these things; She cannot see, the lights on Her horns guide Her as if the world is a reflection and when She is touched she screams and writhes and thrashes and destroys.

Like Her Father, She foresees violent ends, deaths, terminal illness, and like Her Father she guides those who are afflicted but cannot find end to their peace, She is the bringer of merciful ends and She passes among the living as though they are monsters. Like Her Mother, she cannot speak, and columns of birds gather where she has passed. Her flight is silent. Day and night make no difference to Her.
I count the grains of sand on the beach and measure the sea; I understand the speech of the dumb and hear the voiceless. The smell has come to my sense of a hard shelled tortoise boiling and bubbling with a lamb's flesh in a bronze pot: the cauldron underneath it is of bronze, and bronze is the lid.
