Biography
Orpiment

Lore
Orpiment stands guard over the Vault - the room deep in Snastle's shell where the clan stores all its treasure, gems and valuables. While the clan's own members may come and go, unwanted visitors may need to be dissuaded from time to time. Orpiment sits in wait at the entrance to the vault. To get to the clan's treasure, one must pass though him. Or rather, one must join him for a cup of tea. At the first sign of a visitor, friend or otherwise, Orpiment puts down his book and rises to greet them. The visitor is shepherded into a cushioned seat, where Orpiment treats them to a tea ceremony in his treasured, ornate little cups. Seeing the huge Snapper delicately handle the teapot with his stubby claws is truly a sight to behold. Only the finest tea is used, and it is always accompanied by some fresh baked goods from Tanzanite. Knowing that Orpiment sees visitors several times a day, the baker delivers treats to him daily, and going through the ritual of having tea with Orpiment is a well loved part of her morning. Orpiment doesn't speak of what they need from the vault straight away, preferring to chat to the dragon about their life, and the recent happenings, often listening a lot more than speaking. He has a friendly, familiar nature that has many dragons opening up to him straight away. He has never had to fight a dragon trying to steal from the vault. On the few occasions that someone has tried, he simply shared tea and cake with the rather baffled would-be-thief, chatting and gently probing, before turning the conversation to the nature of their decision to steal. Every time, the dragon left the vault freely, either going home to evaluate their life choices, or seeking audience with Snastle to ask for help with whatever situation drove them to stealing, at the insistence of Orpiment. He truly loves conversation, and treasures his time sharing tea with those who come to visit him. The dragons of the clan know to set aside an extra half hour, should they need to access the vault, Orpiment's cheerful insistence ensures that nobody enters without a proper chat first. When not guarding, he locks the fault up tightly and often forays to the Weaving Room, where he plies the gathered clanmates with tea and good conversation. |
