Fate smiled upon the twisted spellcaster; upon the nest's hatching day, a blood magic ritual sealed the young dragons' destinies. Oblivious to their origin, the Wildclaw clutch began life believing the apostate mage to be their only family. She doted upon them, praising their shimmering scales - playing the poor hatchlings against each other to test her success. Envy was the first to earn his name, showing early signs of jealousy while screeching that his sisters received preferential treatment. Lust followed soon after they reached maturity; she left her siblings behind to chase a passing merchant with glimmering, sapphire scales. Wrath was third to be named; warm blood still coated her mouth and claws as she stood above the remains of a would-be thief. Greed, meanwhile, could have earned her name before any of the others... if only she weren't so focused on her own, secretive agenda. From the moment she hatched, there was something different about Greed. Her scales lacked the flowing red markings which earned her siblings so much praise, her body was smaller than even her brother's, and she seemed to just fade away when their 'mother' doted upon the others. She knew from the start she had to be better, had to acquire more and surpass rather than catch up to them. When she failed to present an envious nature, she was written off as a failure, ignored. Small enough to sneak easily, Greed was unseen as she sneaked into the mage's hoard and slowly chipped away at beautiful, magical crystals. At first, she spread them in lines along her scales, sticking them on with the searing venom of nearby creatures. Then, when she was mistaken for her sisters rather than seen as better, she started affixing larger chunks of crimson gems to her scales. Before long, Greed had undeniably earned her name. But by then, Lust had flown away and Wrath had taken it upon herself to serve in the Plaguebringer's army. Envy's attention turned swiftly to the priceless, stolen gems adorning his remaining sister. As Wildclaws tend to do, Greed took the additional attention as a threat, and challenged her brother to a duel. Though both survived and Greed was technically the victor, she fled - carrying with her a small fortune worth of precious stones and treasure taken from her so-called mother's hoard. Remaining stagnant was no longer an option. Petty squabbles would not suffice. Facing a threat to her gem-encrusted scales (and perhaps being affected by the venom used to melt them into place) fully awakened the spirit sharing her soul. The Wildclaw who'd finally earned her name set out in search of more. Greed consumed her.
