Night Watcher - She protects us from the Night

She stumbled into the Whispering Eyes Clan one day, bloody and wounded, with haunted knowledge in her eyes, the call to save someone in her soul. And when she screamed, everything changed.

She had long since traveled the lands of Sorneith to protect those who could not protect themselves from the Night. It was often a long, dreadful evening leading to midnight, with no light from the moon or stars above, when her banshee cry broke through the silence and the dark, chasing back the voices of the void. Her scream was one of the few things on Sorneith which could protect from the unseen predator. And with each scream came lightning, thunder, the crash of power in the heavens above, battling with the impending darkness for a hold on the land.

Each battle with the Night ended the same for her. A success in one way, a defeat in another. To chase away the long, depthless shadows came at a price, the price of her once-beautiful scales. They were burned, singed beyond recognition, the colour drained from her flesh, each time she came in contact with her enemy. The voices of the Night retreated with a hateful hiss, leaving behind harsh marks of their own on her, marking her for the next battle. The following fight was always harder than the last, but it was not to worry - she had a great store of energy within her, and when she felt weak, she drew from the earth beneath her feet. It charged her, and it gave her renewed strength to continue her battle. The war was long and brutal, but it was worth it.

For she saw the Life which she saved, that in unhatched eggs and newborn dragons, and she saw the gratitude shining in the eyes of mothers and fathers, Clan elders and Clan leaders. Not everyone knew the danger they had been, nor did they know the truth of their attacker, but they recognized her for what she was: A saviour from the Night.

And so when she joined her new home, she recognized immediately the danger the Clan was in, one dragon in particular. He was haunted, going mad under his curse, hearing nothing but the voices of the Night in his mind. She knew what she needed to do, despite her many injuries, the weakness taking hold of her. So she drew from the earth once more, and she let loose her cry to free this other dragon, Aminon, as only she could. The relief he felt was apparent immediately, even as she nearly fainted, only to be treated by his mentor, Antares. Their bond was quickly rooted in that moment, and it was one that would last.
