Biography

Born to the Contagion, it is unclear when Dawn left her homelands. What is known is that she somehow ended up lost in the Mire. Wounded, dehydrated and hungry in the aftermath of a skirmish on the edge of the border along the young Blazing Trails Clan territory, Dawn had collapsed.

Far from being done for, the Wildclaw had somehow managed to fend off scavengers seeking an easy meal from a downed dragon. The noise alone had been enough to draw the attention of curious clan members. Some sought to drive off the stranger, while others were eager to offer help and shelter to Dawn, though she continued her frantic defense in defiance.

"I'm not helpless!" Dawn had snapped, kicking out at a curious bystander with her good leg, the talon mere inches from tearing its flesh. She cared little about her wounds, seeking only to ward the approaching dragons away. Next to approach was a Skydancer swathed by the scent of herbs and spices, who sniffed curiously from a safe distance. Out of range of her talon, the Skydancer patiently indicated Dawn's leg. There she had waiting, soothing the Wildclaw and offering assistance, explaining herself to be the clan's healer. It had taken hours for the Wildclaw to weaken enough for the Skydanger to approach, and thanks to her prompt action, Dawn's life had not ended that day.

Determined to maintain independence, Dawn had continued to keep other dragons at wing's length, not daring to trust the strangers she now found herself surrounded by. Confined to the medic's cave, she would of course watch dragons come and go, or pass by on their daily routines, all the while being watched and attended to by the healers; it also didn't take long for Dawn to learn their names and personalities. When at last the wound had healed enough for her to be released from the medic's cave, Dawn wasted little time in trying to find her way back to the Contagion, all the while being tailed by some of the more still-curious dragons of the hospitable Shadow Clan with each unsuccessful attempt.

As dawn approached on one such unsuccessful attempt to return to her birth clan, she encountered a beast who she could not hope to best even in her restored condition; ordinarily, she would have died trying were it not for a bold Wildclaw coming to her side to aid her in the fight from which both bore injuries upon their return to the medic's cave. "You're pretty," he had murmured on their return trek. "Like the dawn itself but not quite."
